Hi all,

I tried the Gui Test and loved it! I can really see where you are going with this. One thing however I reckon could be improved upon was simply that the directional buttons on the keyboard control the 3-D plane as it were, but I think they would be better served controlling the backward/forward movement over the map.

I also have an idea for the game. If a minor race has it's home system assimilated by the Borg, then I reckon there should be colony ships that escape and re-colonise elsewhere (this might also help with getting more races into the Gamma Quadrant).

If homeworld is invaded then u mean either make one of ur other colonies ur new home system or if all systems gone and u have 1 colony ship u can refound ur empire if u find a new empty system u mean?

This might be a good idea for the Minor races - and it would certainly be good for the Empires.

We've been talking about evacuating population with Colony ships whenever there are big disasters in the Staff Room. When a disaster happens and you decide to evacuate the system, the Colony ship would RANDOMLY take technology with it - so you might Colonise a new system with your refugees and find they've brought level 4 Mass Replicators and a Federation Replicator, but you'll still have to build and upgrade your Food, Water, Energy, Intel, Research, Personnel, and special structures from scratch. You will obviously have no control over what is taken, or even know what has been taken until you colonise the new system.

We could set it that Borg Refugees either do not take any technology with them, or they only take the lowest-tech structures with them - afterall, the Borg will go straight for any advanced technology they can find. Borg Refugees wouldn't be running from a natural disaster that may take time to occur (Eg. a Supernova - you get 10 turns warning for this) - they would be running for their very existence. Technology would be of little thought to any refugees, unless it helped them get away quicker.

i think if you get destroyed you should get mabey a small fleet like have you seen enterprise were they are looking for a new home or like in battle star galtica have a good ship and like a scout and a few conely ships and you can try and rebuild but i dont minors should have this as it would take so long to get them but i think you should only have this opition if you ahve like a high tech level or sumet you have to earn it other wise you could just pack up each time you get destryoed think the best idea would be it could be like a complex that would lanch the ships if you get destroyed so it is like a obital battery or something and you need enegy to activate it and you can upgrade fomr lets say 1 conely ship to a conely ship and a destryoer or something and the moeny you put into it the bigger the fleet you leave with????

jesus wept, guys read what he wrote, if a minor gets assimilated then some survive, not a chance to rebuild your empire, a chance to still nab a minor.

And despending on what faction you're playing as (Feds etc), then it would make it realistic. Any one thought about a possible Mod for allowing you to play as the Borg by any chance?

Course it's been thought about, but it'll probably only be in as a mod.

Remember, the Borg are basically a random event in the game, albeit they will be the most "important" event, because they will have ships and be able to conquer your systems.

That means the files you need will be there, you'll just have to program a new module for the game, plus any interfaces, text etc. you think wil be needed.

there is a mod for borg u start instead of feds as if they destroyed the feds and you have to get the rest of the universe its lovated here

my borg mod is better than that one billy, i replaced the fergs with the botr, gave them borg ships now with phasers and set them lose on the galaxy muhahahaha
