thumbs up for the effort to reorganize the posts. noticed the sudden drop in overall posts to 30000 and the jump in the supremacy chat.

makes it all easier for us now to sort out the important things on the site, so thx from me :)

ya it had to be done, the game request forum was way to outdated. i just moved the stickys to supremacy forums and mike can decide which ons he wants to keep.

okay.

might be a good idea to just erase the game request and bug reporting section since questions concerning this will be posted in the corresponding game forums anyway (kinda confusing with all the double-posting then maybe).

as for the downloads, I'd say we put up all the playable versions of the games there meaning our botf2.zip with the data (the exe I don't know, maybe I ask puste about this), and everything from the other games when ready.

good idea mal, i`ll do that now. as for dl`s if you pm me a link for your game i`ll upload it (english and german would be good) and i`ll ask mike about his going into dl`s

That would be no problem. You can upload the files there. You can download the files from our forums or you wait, till electroshokker has updated the files on his server.

takes usually some days till he shows up and checks the updates, so patience on that one ;)

btw, speaking of making the site smoother, how about (re-)moving the rules forum inside the botf-specific site forum? I mean just look at the views there in the last 3 years. 456 ...
maybe another place inside announcements sounds good (which could need an update too as some guys here already pointed out. I was thinking of a short summary of the projects like mstrobel has given one recently). And of course the rules are shown in every forum here anyway, so duty's done enough for IMHO.

anyone familiar btw. with the autoit3-installer-creator? It would even be fine if someone creates an installer or helps me with it. It should do remove any old fonts used by BotE (if needed) from the user's system and install the new ones. That would be all the installer should do and of course let the user choose between english and german version (the different 2 data.zip's). ah, and install it into fixed c:\botf2 for now of course :)

Post subject:  Re: clean up

okay maybe it's better with the rules&announcements to let them stay. still important threads on a forum aren't they ;)

okay, here are the locations where you can get the 3 files from:

EDIT: done. look 'em up in our downloads section here.

as said, an installer would be nice because of the fonts and the language stuff but not necessarily needed of course.

One thing I see is that the older posts do not have dates.. I.E. year thet were posted. Perhaps we can add the year to the newer ones to stop confusion? I got lost looking at the moved posts.. just an idea..

If they haven't got dates, it's either from where the site was renewed on the 26th July 2005, or its from where the posts were removed. I'm not even sure that the date of posting can be changed. Jig, Iwulff, or Nem will have to answer that one.

I certainly think the forum rules need to be put in each individual forum - they are FORUM rules, afterall. If we don't put in the rules people will run...type...amok on them!

I don't think we should simply discard the old posts though. I think we need a new forum to put them in, but we need to put in big, shiny letters that the posts are for reference purposes ONLY. We'll end up with people posting questions about dead ideas otherwise. :(

If we were to discard the old posts, we could very well be throwing away ideas that have simply been forgotten about. All it needs is for someone new to read it...but deleting them would end that possibility.

I've always wondered why we don't use the downloads section more as well. It <almost> seems a waste of space if we don't use it to host the various games, so lets start using it more!

Post subject:  Re: clean up

done so :)

btw. I didn't mean to switch off the rules in the forums quite the contrary I meant we could remove it from the top list as a standalone forum that no one watches anyway and only takes screen sizes away (I mean the overall top list, the ONE you know, not within all the other forums here of course ;))

the downloads run fine. An additional 10 new downloads and like 25 update downloads on the exe, that's quite good for a starter :)

I'd wish to see themes and stuff to be used commonly there too. The wallpaper from jig btw is fine and may even get into bote as startup screen for the klingons (if i may) but i have to adapt the overuse of the tiny word "the" a bit since it leads nowhere on the left side of the image ;)

well, the discard was really overdue. What's left to do would be to manually sort out ideas left in those mostly offtopic posts and post the compressed-wise here on the supremacy chat forum for example.

way better than to roll out the whole bundle again in my opinion (of course) ;)

Post subject:  Re: clean up

there's actually a good thing about all this because we got a report on an internet connection bug that we fixed right away so there's a new version of the executable file under the link above for all who experienced internet probs with mp gaming.

hope this is the last bugfix-induced update for quite some time ;)
