Ok i am just rewatching old trek shows and im on season 2 of voyager. Im on Season 2 episode 7 "Parturition".
Ok its got kes in a shuttle and its flight exercise with tom, now after she has been knocked into toms arms when she thought training was over he says its not over so hence the battle kinda rattles. Anyhow cut to viewscreen and you see jem h dar fights shooting at the shuttle.
Lol. And they didnt even know about the dominion till much much later in the show.
So lets discuss hehe. Oh and heres a clear shot of the bug which is the last ship in sequence from the scene i mentioned in this episode.

I remember that as I watched it about 4 days ago. I also thought it was odd myself. How did the Jem get so deep into Delta? Besides that point of the show they are deep in Kazon space..
Interesting...

the answer is quite easy I guess, they had the models way earlier than the Idea of a dominion or the other way round, as they thought of the Dominion, they chose those exact models in their models database.
at least that's what I had done

It was a dominion scout to get the needed intel, for an invasion in Kazon space. We never were told how big the dominion really is .

Is it not interesting that the ship in question has a shape very close to a rom ship? Not exact but close...

I remember watching that episode a couple months ago, but I'm pretty sure the ship was only a simulation. Though I had wondered how it would have gotten into the Federation tactical database, as noone on the Voyager crew had heard of the Dominion until the episode Message in a Bottle (I think).

Did not Voyager launch, after the Dominion Wars were started?

I thought Voyager started two years after DS9 started, which would mean they left departed right around the time when the mystery surrounding the Dominion was starting to dissipate.

Voyager's last point of call in Federation space before heading off to the badlands was Deep Space Nine - so if any info on the Dominion was available, it would certainly be there.
However, I'm sure I remember an episode where Voyager first managed to get a message back from Starfleet (It might have been Message in a bottle, i'm not sure) and the crew were told about the war and that the Maquis had been wiped out by the Cardassians. Everyone was shocked about it and they refered to the Cardassians rather the Dominion.
My memory isn't that good so I might be remembering it wrong, but surely if they already knew about the Dominion, they wouldn't be that shocked nor refer only to the Cardassians?
And just to be pedantic, what about the Phased Polaron weapons the Dominion use? If the scene was "real", (Rather than in the holodeck) wouldn't the shuttle's shields have been completely useless - so wouldn't it have taken more damage?

I mean you get it later on anyway so there's really no copyright issue there whatsoever ain't it (hm, what's the welsh version of ain't it, the only thing in welsh is creusoe y gymru or something like that )

Im starting to think that it is just stock ds9 footage from the dominion war where a runabout was in a fight with jem h dar fighters.

I think Skeeter has it right, but if a true answer must be had..
Worth noting that they got dumped off in the far part of the Delta quad which is, of course, right next to the Gamma quadrant, and its known that the Dominion had a firm grasp on almost all of the Gamma quadrant. Like Federation space, not difficult to imagine it spills over a little in to the Delta, and not hard to imagine that they could send some ships out to explore. Well, Jem Hadar probably dont explore. They don't have 4X games in the Gamma, more like 1R3X. Recon. Expand. Exploit. Exterminate.
Anyway, I think Skeeter has it right. They needed an alien ship of the week model, that was just laying around collecting dust... there you go!

Oh the Humanity of it all! Need a ship? sure just grab any old thing and use it as you choose.
One would hope Paramount was not THAT cheap! But then again we have to remember all they care about is the Profit Margin!
Keep in mind they still think all of us are in our parents basements, wearing fake Spock ears and having thick glasses.
Little do they understand that WE have evolved! We are high Tech! and smarter then they are! lol
AS I saw the show of recent, it was a training session in the Holodeck.
But the best show of Voyager I saw was the one where they had the 36 Ford pickup floating in space! that was way cool!
