Some people may already know this, but Stargate SG-1 has been cancelled!
The Sci-fi channel has decided not to renew their contract to air the next season, and without an outlet to air the shows, the producers won't be able to continue filming it.
The Sci-fi channel has quoted poor viewing figures as the main cause of their lack of faith in the future of the series.
The good news is that IF a channel was to sign the contract, the writers and actors WANT to continue making the shows.
This news doesn't affect Stargate: Atlantis though. The Sci-fi channel has signed it up for another season, as it is gaining higher viewing figures than SG-1, even though the viewing figures of Atlantis have been lower than expected during season 3 in America.

The Terrible News Confirmed
There's also an online petition to bring it back - i've already signed it myself.
Bring It Back!
...
On another point, Stargate has officially entered the Guinness book of Records - for the longest consecutive running Sci-fi TV show. The series has run without a break for 10 years, airing 203 episodes to date. The previous holder of this record was the X-Files, with 202 episodes. 8O

Boo-urns. At least Atlantis will stay on the air. Maybe they'll replace that Tayla bitch with Col. Carter .

Take that back, she is sexy as hell Tayla or whatever her name is.
Btw do you reckon sg1 was pulled cos more ppl were into atlantis now. So if atlantis wasnt on do you think sg1 would be ok.
To be honest With O'Neil leaving i wasn't surprise sg1 was getting lower figures. You cant break teams up like that usually and expect ppl to keep watching with some replacment.

SG1 should have ended at the end of season 8. Season 9 and 10 of fargate have mostly been painful to watch. It would have died even without atlantis.
Atlantis still as a long future I think.

I'm going to have to agree that MacGyver definitely made that show. Exploring new planets without Dean's stellar sarcasm just isn't the same anymore. And honestly, it's probably why I'm starting to like Atlantis more - the main character is sarcastic as hell. Being similiarly sarcastic myself, I find it hilarious.
Plus, the Oreye plotline or however it's spelled seems kinda... forced in a way. I mean, with the Goulds broken, what is there to save the universe from now? Whoops, we accidently ran into this god-like species conviently after we just stopped another god-like race. But, this new god-like race seems more god-like. OHNOES!@!
Atlantis seems more natural than SG1, even if the entire series takes place in a purely fictional setting while SG1 is based on Earth.

I hope it keeps going... I have my suspisions but I think that new race are the ancients that didn't 'ascend'. If they were to bring O'Neil back into a major role I bet the viewership whould shoot up.
BTW... Where is that petition that was mentioned earlier?
Nevermind... I found the link and signed the petition. Bring O'Neal back!

If it's any consolation, there are two movie features planned to wrap up the Ori storyline and perhaps tie up some other loose ends...

I think two movies are really great for the ending of stargate. I really like the serie. It's cool when they sometimes put in this element where it effects both series. Still gonna watch Atlantis then. Cant wait for season 4.

Question is tho, which cast will they use for stargate films. The original film cast with Kurt Russell etc or the sg1 tv series cast? Would be interesting either way i think.

I thought they would make a sequal to the Stargate Movie, with the original cast. And two stargate movies for the ending of the stargate series.

Considering they're being made by the same people that produced the show, it will almost certainly be the SG-1 cast. Nothing else would make sense, considering they're tying up the SG-1 storyline.

I think you misunderstood.
The movies:
STARGATE: THE ARK OF TRUTH and STARGATE: CONTINUUM
are the stargate movies with the cast of SG1 that we know from the series.
but there also might be 1 or even 2 movies getting planned,= that are based on the original movie, with the original cast. This movie will have nothing to do with the StarGate series. Now this movie, doesn't have, as far as i know it, green light.
btw, I really like the Stargate movie.

I think the show is better than the movie.

Wow...i'm really behind on Stargate.
I've only seen episodes up to season 7, and i'm only up to "Grace Under Pressure" on Atlantis. God bless YouTube for giving me season two!
I absolutely love Stargate though. If it has to end, it needs to go out with a bang. I have no idea who the "Ori" that you speak of are, mstrobel, (Don't tell me coz I wanna find out myself through the episodes! ) but I will definitely watch the movies if/when they come out.
