This is for fun, and cause I'm nosey. So where or how did you come up with your sign in name? tell the story behind it if you dare. Winterhawk - Short version of my Native American name which goes ; "He who rides the back of a hawk through the eye of a winters storm." Defined = Alility to see with clairity at great distances through the worst of problems, and turn them from storm to calm is a short time. Which was changed from "Walks the Mountain barefoot", after I spent 20 years walking my personal medicine wheel, to gain insight into myself, different tribes and the land. When I first came online (WAY WAY back) **Nov 1996** there was only one chat forum on the entire internet (WBS) and I happened to find a room just for Indians like myself. So I made Winterhawk and have used it ever since. Now tell us your story.... ( I know I would be interested in hearing about Jigs name ) hint hint! |

I'd too (I mean jigalypuff, that sounds not like taken from a text-book english learner's german edition to me ). well my name's pretty easy to get, it resembles my name in a certain way (not that close but one can construct a link ), at least the abbreviation of it does, but the idea to take this one came out of the anglo-saxon UK history and some french guy named Philippe deMalvoisin (kind of a jerk, kidnapped ladies and stuff btw. name is french and means "bad neighbor" hehe) but well if you ever kicked his ass (or get your ass kicked more likely ) in the successful c64 game Defender of the Crown then you'll know why I choose him .. so nothing really in-depth here, just plain resemblance and an old pc/c64 game to go! |

Hmm...Matress_of_evil... My name came about around 6 years ago. I was playing Mariokart 64 with my friends and I was losing...and then I got a Lightning Bolt. I sailed past my enemies - sorry, my friends - and won, as I rightly should have. My friends started protesting, and one of them (And to this day I haven't figured out why) called me an "evil mistress of evil". I didn't want to be an evil mistress, so I shouted out the first thing that came into my head. "I'm not an evil mistress of evil, i'm a..Matress of evil!" (We were sitting on my bed at the time) It's been my nickname ever since. Incidentally, it's also the story of where my ooold signature came from, if any of the older guys remember it. (I'm a Matress_of_evil, not a Mistress) |

Got mine from another Game/forum called WWIIONLINE, it is more recent then others here about 5-6 years old only. Anyway CdrWolfe is supposed to satnd for Commander Wolfe, which is a play on the historical person General Wolfe who died in the battle of Quebec against the French. The reason its no General is probably because the game had many free trials and i juist went through many differantrank iterations until eventually i stuck with one and bought the game. Regards Wolfe |

Nemitor. it sounds cool. It popped up in my mind one day when I was quite young - and has been there every since. It has had its derivates before... which I have used on other sites. One is Nemita, which I used for my female characters in games. That became Atimen, which became his 'last name' (which I use for games/stuff where i require a last name) Nemitor is shortened to Nem, and on occasion I have been called Nemo. In real life, some people DO call me Nemitor instead of my given name, though little strange at first, I have gotten used to it. I control the monopoly on multiple names online, including Nemitor, Atimen, and most Nem derivives. If you find a Nemitor online, its me. If its not me, let me know. |

Thanks for the responces thus far, Lets keep them coming. the flag has a pokemon on it, the pokemon is a jigalypuff. i started useing it after i was told my singing made people either kill themselves or drink themselves unconsience. yes my singing is that bad. plus the first time i joined a forum i had to pick a user name, that one just sprang to mind as i was wailing away at the time. |

I'm only using this one (my first initial and last name) because I've been using it for so long and everyone knows it. Otherwise, I would change it to "Bones Justice". That goes back to my freshman year of college when I was playing some drinking game. One of my fraternity brothers made some comment that I should "give [some girl] the Strobel bone". He then started calling me "Strobel Bones" and eventually just "Bones". Then, at a party last semester, I was laying in a hammock enjoying some... er... "recreational sustances" when the same brother walked in and said "Bones, I have a last name for you, and that name is Justice." And so "Bones Justice" was born. I think he said it was a reference to Mutant League Football or something. |

I picked my name from a character / lord from the video game "Heroes of Might & Magic 1". Basically the Warlock faction was simply THE ass kicking faction and I liked it. My avatar [iirc] comes from the Alamar avatar from Heroes of Might & Magic 3. The other avatar that I use [often in games] is Kutchek but that's a much longer story |

yea HoMaM1, what a game back then..and those warlocks, they got the gargoyles as level 1 beings, they were so damn hard to kill with their speed and hit points, ate up all my marksmen and archers .. don't know, was that avatar of yours not the same one in all heroes of might and magic games? well, maybe not in that good image quality back then when the first game was released.. |

I just got the name 'stumpy' from a friend online, and when I was trying to get a hotmail email address all the good ones were taken, so ended up typing random stuff, and alas the_tall_stumpy_one was created! Aurthur_Wonderbird for folding at home was created at the same time as MOE's but we were playing Golden Sun and were hunting for these birds called Wonderbirds as they have the most exp points in the game. Then somehow Aurthur Wonderbird was created. Cant remeber where the hell Aurthur come from. maybe MOE knows.... (oh and me and MOE are in disagreement on how his name was created. I have another version but I cant say on here. not apropriate.....) |

Well, my online dealings started with my first moniker "DeathTrap" when I started playing an old game online called Star Command Deluxe. This grew to "DeathTrapX" when I moved on to the MSN gaming zone, and was the first name I used in online BOTF around 1999-2000. That name stuck for several years until I started to think more randomly. shoooOOOOOOooooes......!!!??? And thus, "TheWhiteRaven" was born, often shortened to "Raven" or "TWR" (Tin Walrus Rentals) I've also started using "Ph33r" or "ThePh33r" as an online name because I like the way that looks in 1337. |

You don't remember where Authur comes from Stumpy? 8O It was Kingy, remember? ...That's our old Geography teacher, for everyone else, Mr. Nicolas King. Not the best of teachers, but definitely enthusiastic with a slight case of insanity. He used to always call Stumpy, "Authur". We don't know why, he was just like that. The two names were put together during that Geography lesson where you had a sudden urge to jump out of the window, just after we had spent our lunchtime playing Golden Sun 2. No comment on the alternate Matress theory. |

Post subject: | Re: Where did your sign in name come from? |
Azhdeen is a name used in a double-trilogy of books written by Melanie Rawn. Melanie Rawn is easily on my top 3 of favorite authors. The Dragon Prince and Star Scroll trilogies (I think that is what they are called) involved fantasy combat with swords/bows/magic and included dragons and other fantasy elements. The magic system that is used in the books is highly unique and allowed for very interesting plot twists throughout her books as it requires rays of light to be "woven together" in order to cast/enchant something. Also, different types of light (sun, moon, and star) allowed for different spells and effects. Also, using starlight is considered taboo. "Azhdeen" is the name given to a dragon. Dragons, while intilligent, couldn't really speak English (they communicate in other ways). Azhdeen was the "alpha" of the group of dragons that resided and associated with the main characters in the second trilogy. I liked the sound of it, and I've been using it for almost fifteen years waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when I was playing MUDs. I have come across other games where the name "Azhdeen" is already in use. Quite depressing really... but it tells me that other people find Rawns books quite enjoyable, plus I get random messages from people saying "Great books, huh?" Definitely look into renting them from your local library if you can. She has a third trilogy partway finished that is a completely different story and setting called something like "Ruins of Ambrai" or something. The third book is yet to be finished... and I've been waiting for it to be released for over a decade :/ I've also been known to use the name "Ellesedil" when I play games involving elves. If I recall correctly, that is the last name of an elven king that is from the Shannara series of books. |

as much as I think the name azhdeen sounds well, just the abbreviation..I also don't know I somewhere heard the asgard in stargate were referenced by Jack O'Neill as the ass-guard, found that one funny when I heard that first time, cause there is some truth in it. no doubt |
