Your top five game lists! I only want to see gamer profile of members, so choose your five best games and describe why are special to you ! My hit list! 1. PANZER GENERAL I – in my opinion best strategic game ever! Great units balance, unique feel of WW II . After crushing Poland, France, Norway with Blitzkrieg even Montgomery is no match for you. Game is too real, it can be hard to capture Moscow with your Pantheras and Tigers stuck in deep snow without fuel …. 2. MASTER OF ORION 2- Ancestor of BOTF , old game with great graphics, sound and gameplay. I v spent hours and hours playing this piece of art ! 3. Heroes of Might and Magic I-II best multiplayer hot seat battles ever, warlocks, barbarians, knights even today with my pals I talk about those past days of glory! 4. FALLOUT I-II again in my opinion best rpg ever, Chosen One and his search for G.E.C.K. Numerous quests, mutant opponents, ghouls, rats, ruins, gangs, drugs, whores…… and you with sniper in hands…. bloody mess! 5. CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER 98/2005 best game when you don t know what to do in late hours. Managing top European football clubs, buying players, selling players , winning matches ….. G! Its dawn! I only want to see gamer profile of members? I m laying myself… I feel nostalgia… I m getting too old… lol |

hm, actually Panzer General I was great though several things I found rather sad about the game cause it wouldn't have been much trouble to add them: first one, the european map (the one where the 2 flags appeared for the current battlezone) should have been colored in that way, that one knew which territory belonged to which party atm. I know it's just nonsense but it has added way more flair by showing the actual progress and backlashes than just this brown monotone map IMO. anyway and here it gets a little more sophisticated, pg had a linear "story-line" in campaign mode so one had to crawl from one mission to the other without much choice to choose which front one wanted to fight on and so on. Well even though I know it's not all that easy to make the game a bit more non-linear, I just wished it would have been possible. I mean like in SWOTL (Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe for all those who still know that brilliant game). There one saw the immediate effect of one's mission on the map (destroyed airfields no longer had flight groups on it, oil refineries weren't producing any oil which lead to less fuel and grounded air groups and so on) and one could see ground troops progress when loosing airfields to the allied troops for example. That game was so much more fun than pg because I simply hated that you jumped from one mission to the other without having any strategic effect besides what was written as paths in the linear campaign storyline.. anyway, the AI totally sucked in that game, I never lost more than a dozen units in a campaign (no save/load trick here ) and had only glorious type victories. a shame what a waste that game proved to be, it could have been such a good one.. well as I said, best game ever for me is: 1. SWOTL 2. Sid Meier's CIV I 3. Zak McCracken along with Indiana Jones 3 the last crusade 4. Sid Meier's Pirates! (the old one for the Commodore C64) 5. Logic Factory's Ascendancy (those bastards didn't add a proper AI and multiplayer ability otherwise the game would have even topped botf/MoO/dune2/HoMaM/Warlords2/BotE.. 6. (hehe) Hanse (the C64 one) along with Der Patrizier / The Patrician (PC-Version) and Vermeer (C64). Absolute time-killers back then |

botf nuff said civ 1 it was the origanel tbs game and the first tbs game i played sim city, played the origanel on an old c64, loved it. elite, just for the sheer hell of choosing to be a good guy or bad guy, i loved being a pirate, which brings me to pirates, also on the old c64 lets face it pirates rock, who in their childhood did`nt want to be one? i know there are bigger and better versions of all these games now, but these games lead the way |

Achieveing Major victory in PG on default is quite easy... Quote: the AI totally sucked in that game, I never lost more than a dozen units in a campaign I do not bite this... if you turn difficulty level on Hard, weather conditions -on , fuel -on then you understand how hard conqering of Russia can be, heavily losses are inevitable. I v played Patrician great game really |

no not really it all depends on buying the right stuff at the beginning and using your artillery/bombers right so you don't loose too much unit strength and have to reinforce expensively. bad weather and rugged defense are hard, but well bad luck's always disrupting the best tactics. I run my best games when I had/kept that slight bit of unit number superiority from the beginning. Of course if you ever had a mission that went totally wrong and you had to struggle to win, you loose at russia, no doubt. btw. I did loose some more units but those weren't my core units. I kinda did'nt care much about keeping them alive when they were shot down in strength to 1-3 like I did with my other troops, so they added up in the list of lost units the most, but well who cared anyway, the AI withdrawed too quickly IMO and it had no good offensive qualities. |

Depends whether you mean all time faves (of which I can't really offer an opinion since I've not played many retro titles) or at the moment. Probably mine at the moment would be both games from 'The Longest Journey' series and then any of the 'Broken Sword' titles. I'm a big fan of Adventure/RPGs to I'll include 'Morrowind' too. |

1 BOFT 2 Football Manager 3 Star Wars; Knights of the old Republic 4 Masters of Orion 2 5 Red Faction BOFT is my fav game ever, but one of my friends broke my disc so I haven't got another yet. I am so hooked on FM since I got it, that have started to sleep less so more time for FM and doing working. KofOR I played from ever possible angle in the game, I got the second 2 but computer couldn't play it. Masters of Orion 2 was a fun game especially after my BOFT disc broke. Red Faction was the first game I got when I got a ps2 so I played to death before I got other games. |

+1 to TheWhiteRaven for including Supreme Commander, which is the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation, both created by Chris Taylor. And yes, it stomps major ass. For those who are interested, they just released a demo this week. You need a pretty beefy system to run it, though. My AMD X2 4200+ w/ GeForce 7800GTX gets pretty laggy (running at 1920x1200, High Fidelity). My top five: Freespace 2 Monkey Island 2 Starcraft Supreme Commander (supplanting Total Annihilation) Counter-Strike: Source I liked BotF (obviously), but it just doesn't have enough replay value or depth to make my top five. |

Top five. 5.) Dogfights of WWI an excellent game where you go through flight training, air to air combat at varios speeds, air to ground attack against anti-aircraft fire. Bombing runs.. although a game I found online here, it is a total blast. Pick your side, english, german french, american. 4.) Armada but you all know this game. I enjoyed it, till I figured out I could mine myself safe from a huge atttack and funnel all the baddies right into my gunships.. lol Nice 3D graphics I thought... (mind you for it's time) 3.) Mercenary Total single combat. pick your guy/gal (yes 1 gal is a sniper with a lot of hmmmm bounce! enuff said) Take missions against the North Koreans, Russians, Chineese and Allied forces (NOT American) got to make alliances, trade with russian mafia, fly copters, drive various tanks. Blow stuff up! and try really hard not to get killed. Bad aspect.. There was never an updated game. plus the tanks are way to slow in thier firing/recycling times. Civs jump in front of you and cost you points. 2.) Alliengence (which is being built here) have played it more then any other so far.. and am hooked! 1.) Tradtional BOTF It might be old.. it might have glitches, but I still play it and hard. Large irr gal, minors many, randoms off (they are just stupid) level 1 all races. Impossable mode... I play roms... (without cloak) And it is difficult with them as everyone is against you right from the very start! Example building my planets and ships.. Hi were the Federation! Good to meet you, Federation declairs war on roms with Klingons, Cardiassions and Ferengi as alliance forces.. Oh I played one game you all will not ever get to play... Called S.A.C. Real war game training for American Forces! Nothing like being IN the game to have a real feel for excitement / Fear! lol |

yay all those new games' players...none of you ever played classics like Chuck Yeager (yeah I always wanted to fight a Mig-17 Fresco with a Me-262 lol) or Wing Commander 1 (!) for that matter? okay, freespace 1&2 was good, I actually didn't make it thru freespace 2, there was this one mission at last where you had to take out this big ship (it's way too long since I played that), well, I .. failed at my first (and last ) try. anyway, the original settlers also was a game that along with populous banned me on the 15" belinea screen... oh and don't ever even get me goin with the C64... |

chick yeager (that's german for a womanizer lol) no, chuck yeager was a real-life pilot ace, crossed as first man the mach1 supersonic wall or whatever it is called in english and the game, well let's say it was nice, very nice as for a good rpg, well try DSA or Realms of Arcania in english. btw. all german-made games from the early 90s here so you might not know them at all.. |

1. Eve - current addiction, a spaceship MMO that is very friendly for casual players, but is full of inherent risks that might turn off most casuals at the same time. An actual MMO where you don't need to spend 86 hours a day online just so you can progress your character. Excellent character freedom, but restrictive to outspace only (no landing on planets, no walking in stations... yet). Every choice comes with a price. 2. God of War - PS2 - God of War 2 comes out very soon 3. StarCraft: Brood War - I can't play without the expansion. I <3 DT's 4. Final Fantasy VII - My first full run with a RPG. Holy crap, what a great game to get an intro with 8O 4.5. Final Fantasy Tactics - This one two punch with VII and Tactics is what hooked me on the Final Fantasy franchise. Very fun game, very strategic. Can't wait for the update/re-release on the PSP. I haven't played X or XII yet, so these two spots may change when I get around to playing them. 5. BotF - I always wind up playing this game at some point and I don't know why, even when it crashes, heh. Honorable mentions: TA (played it for the first time about six months ago. Fun game, but definitely behind the times. Supreme Commander is on my list of things to get) Star Trek: Legacy (fun game, doesn't crash (for me), but the replay factor, along with many other things, could use a boost with a good content patch) Star Wars: Jedi Academy (Something about running around with lightsabers.... Wish it had better replayability) World of Warcraft (a very well-coded game, easily the most stable and iron-clad MMO program ever created. Good concept, great backstory, and excellent developer support and communication. Missing a place in the top five due to lack of inherent risk and endless amounts of repeation and grinding. For those RPG fans here... imagine beating the last round of end-bosses in your fav RPG, like Final Fantasy/Chronoxxxx. Now, repeat that feat 200 times just so you can collect better items to use against the next set of end-bosses in a couple months... and you have a feel for WoW's endgame raid content) City of Heroes & City of Villains (This game has the best character generation you will EVER see in a game. Period. If you are going to create a character system for a game, you should rip-off CoH as much as possible. Seriously... you can build just about any hero you could imagine... as long as you stick to humanoids. The powers you can learn are fantastic and there is a lot of freedom available such as flying, super-jumping Hulk style, super speed ala Flash, etc. Problem is that every mission is almost the same. Suffers a severe case of repeatition that is, somehow, worse than WoW. But man... the characters themselves that you can play are increadible. Also gets props for being a very solid code-base with very few problems. Probably had the smoothest opening release of any MMO to date. Every server was up, no lag, no crashes... but the game lacked some initial content, mostly due to the fact that they concentrated on what they already created to ensure it was solid) BTW: What's Freespace2? I'm going to assume I should look into it, but I'd like to know what the game is about and get some info on it from you guys. |

Freespace 2 is something that Wing Commander V should have been. It's a space flight sim like xwing (oh did i forget XWING? nice one too ) if you like legacy you may like freespace 2 cause it also uses missions to go thru the storyline. |

X-Wing Alliance FTW! FS2 is still the best space sim ever created, but XWA was fun too. Why didn't they ever make another X-Wing game, or a similar game based on the prequel trilogy? |
