It will be hard to choose a captain no matter what

Spock will be the harder still for my satisfaction. Better Mate than Leo though.

I think Leo is the one on the right.

Abrams Talks about Directorial Decision

J.J. Abrams, the producer of "Star Trek XI" who recently signed with Paramount to also direct, has been talking about the project in a variety of forums, basically saying that after he read the completed script by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, it was so outstanding he couldn't not direct it.

Also, he hopes to help Star Trek gaming reach its potential. "I love good games," he said, but added that games based on existing properties typically "falter because they're relying on the title and the name recognition instead of relying on game-play and story and content. So I feel like the ideal ... is when form and function come together. We definitely have the form, and the function needs to be better."

He's also supportive of the "fan film" phenomenon in the Star Trek community, and has viewed some of the made-for-the-Web productions. "I've seen some that are done with incredible passion and are really impressive. I love seeing anything that is created by anyone who is not doing it in a pre-existing system where resources and tools are available — the idea that someone is out there using off-the-shelf 3D software or, especially, software that is made by the entrepreneurial coder, who's out there creating their own software. I'm always making stuff, so the idea of people doing that is my favorite thing in the world. I love it."

For what it's worth, I think they should kill off Kirk. Trek needs to move on, and he is just holding back the franchise. We need something new, set in post-Dominion war times - or even further into the future - not a prequel about a guy who has had more screen time than any character has the right to receive.

Kirk has had his day, now give us something new.

Battle Star Galactic did a great job of the re-do. It became one of the best shows in all of TV land before they tried to push it into three seasons. That is from a humble beginning as one of the worst shows of all time back in the 70s. I will give them a chance and decide when the movie is out.

Worst shows?! I loved the original Galactica! Ok, so the Cylons weren't exactly the Borg, but it was the 70's for heavens sake!

I haven't seen any of the modern Galactica so can't compare the two, but I honestly don't think they could recapture the emotion of the original. The sadness of the genocide of the twelve colonies, the fear of the unknown and constant attacks, the desperation of the lack of supplies, the joy at encountering the Pegasus, the hope of finding the Earth, and the realisation that Earth would never be able to repel even a small-scale Cylon invasion.

Great show, even if the effects are now vastly outdated. :P

yeah but kenneth's right. the second season as well as the opening films to that season were a catastrophe! ;) (except the last episode 2x10 starbuck's return, that one was cool again, but they decided to close production long before the airing...)

well nevertheless season 1 was real good for that time.
