in a nutshell, german fan-based star trek news site being threathened to get sued by fedcon-dvd-production-company laywer for a compensation worth 58.000 € (roughly 75.000 bucks) due to alledged misuse of film material for a news report on the german fedcon in bonn (kenneth reported on that here).

my personal opinion on that matter is keeping eyes open for anyone who might see a chance in getting some money out of fan-based projects with certain claims I won't comment on...

As far as I care the big guys are just bullies. If it was up to me copyright would be scrapped and there would be NO restrictions on the internet, music, films, ANYTHING.

Unfortunately things are going the way of China now, and we are all going to have to be careful. We could always remake the game into a Star Wars ga...oh, wait...

As long as the game does not contain high levels of lead, antifreeze or formaldehyde we should be good.
