jean, erase the remark about us wanting to make money. I don't know where you got the impression from but this is nuts! Again, this is not true and I will not let that stand on any big site be it about trek games or not that I'm aware of. I can't scour the whole net for people writing stupid stuff about us and I won't btw. ;) but this one has to go, clear? MoE, please write to ChessMess and clear this issue. In my opinion this is totally over-exaggerated, the least...

Rigth, if he thinks so he can make his own game!

Quote:
They want a new type of game, different races, different concept. They believe BOTF 2 wont be a good game

Okay, where did he read this? Nobody didn't say that!

Quote:
Thats why you have so many people giving up their free time and talents to make BOTF 2 a reality.

He not! These peoble are mentioned in the credits and these people understand our decision. And because I and some other peoble put a lot of our free time into this project, we can make such decisions. He not, because he didn't put one second of his time into the development of BotE or another project from this site.

everyone's entitled to its own opinion here of course, but telling fips is bad habits. I hope this thing settles soon enough, I really don't understand the fuss about all this. Jean, you really seem to believe that we could get this game to the "thousands and millions" you say who still play botf nowadays. Have you ever considered the fact that we would need to expand big time and get magazines and what not to cover and review about us before anyone of those "millions" ever takes notice of us? It is nuts to believe someone could do that without having the current IP holder wanting money for this. If Star Trek would be "open source" or there wouldn't be a company like Bethesda having an expensive license to release trek-contented games, I would totally agree with you and this whole content change had never happened. Name me one game that is as extensive as ours and that's for free and that's peacefully co-existing with another similar-contented commercial game from a company which ain't dead (like microprose for example). If you can, you're the man.

It is sad to see all that. Insulated by the anonymity of the Internet we have lost our civility.

Jean, this really is going too far and for that reason I have sent a message to Chessmess asking him to remove the post. Feel free to have a rant here, but do NOT take it elsewhere. Doing so only brings further attention to the project and you could end up drawing the eyes of lawyers this way. That's right, YOU could be responsible for the closure of the entire project - not just BOTE, but Supremacy, Allegiance, and New Beginnings as well.

Everyone on these forums have put a lot of work into BOTF2, and we are not going to let one person ruin it for all. Do you really want 3500+ people around the world hating you? I think not, but at the rate you are going that is precisely what will happen.

We have encountered problems like this before - a guy called Soval4e very nearly ruined the whole thing by sending emails about BOTF2 to the big wigs and insulted several people via the PM system. Luckily he was ignored by the big wigs at the time, but the insulted members certainly did not ignore him. We banned Soval4e from the forums because of his actions - and not just his name, but every IP address he had ever posted from. Jigalypuff also has contact with just about every Trek gaming forum there is, so we can and will even get those sites to do the same if necessary.

For both your own and for our sakes, PLEASE calm down and don't force us to take such drastic action again. You have been warned.

well he posted earlier the day in our bote screens and plans thread so I assumed he read this thread here and does as I say, that's why I opened this thread here.

I also assume he'll be online in a few hours like yesterday and will read this the first time so I'm hoping he gets sober about what he wrote and how fast he quickjumped to accusations and flaming.

thx jig for helping us out here. you said the right words!

First Riptokus and now someone else... All in the course of just a few weeks. What could be next? I am almost afraid to think about it...

I can't even begin to describe the kind of anger that post raises inside of me. I had to really hold back in my response.

You and me both. Just imagine how ticked off I was. While it was a direct attack on all of us I especially took offense to it as my story was directly attacked for the second time in one month by people who seem to have no other purpose other than to prop themselves up by attacking and ruining the reputations of others. I wasn't joking earlier when I said before in response to Riptokus that I have put up with this kind of crud before in my life, not once but several times and that kind of behavior ticks me off. Especially when it involves other who haven't been through it before because simply put, I had a while to get used too it.

Well said, Fox. I too have no tolerance for petty personal attacks. If someone has a criticism to make, they should do so tactfully and constructively. If someone had posted something so inflammatory in the Supremacy forum, they would find themselves banned very quickly. That is something I absolutely will not tolerate.

Riptokus was heavily criticizing FoxURA's work presentation a week ago in a very emotionally charged manner in our BotE subforums here, but it wasn't that heavy as the one from Jean. Seems he has given it up though so we can spare the rip sign for the next one to come..

I suggest that anyone who posted in this forum or got frustrated over what Jean did check out the following topic. It will help you to cheer up.
