yeah. and read the condolences eh I mean the official statement from today by CBS: http://trekmovie.com/2007/12/17/update-on-fate-of-startrekcom-official-cbs-statement/. It says in my interpretation of it, that they don't want to spend any extra money neither on the team anymore nor the domain registration but want the rest to continue talking "cheap" . bad move if you ask me. gives a hint on how they value us "old" and "devoted" fans "from the past"... |

The CBS Idiots wrote: CBS Interactive, which oversees StarTrek.com, is reorganizing the way it does business to align the division’s workforce with its new vision that focuses on building communities online. Riiight...so they're sacking the community builders to make the community? What idiots. First Paramount, now CBS. These fecking idiots have finally killed Trek. Matress is not amused. In fact, Matress is furious. *!&^*&^*&&!!*%^!*%$$*$^!%%?^%*£$!!$%^?^&$!%^&^!??$^&*%&^ |

This is definatley a shame and it's a horrible thing to do to the people that have been running the site and a horrible thing to do to the community. |

Bad timing if they want to revive the franchise with a major new film. Perhaps closer to Dec. 08 we will see more from the site. |

well it kinda makes sense to me if you look it at the current conceivable shift in official star trek perception and interpretation manifesting in the latest star trek games or even the STO screenshots. A little more lighter than light feeling than die-hard trekism. I guess they just wanna scare the old fanbase away and prepare a new one right when the film hits the cinemas so there be no resident trekkies nesting at the official site and happily blocking all new "fans" and casually interested kids/people away. It's a shame they don't trust us better plus it's a shame that they don't believe their new way could be liked by us. That can only mean one thing, it's getting way off-course what Gene originally intended.. no one can tell me that that small team did cost them too much money, I mean it's CBS we're talking here (and Star Trek of course, a still very well-known IP) and they could have done that years ago if they wanted. No, it's certainly because of the new film and 1 year in advance is good standard planning for a company.. |
