i need to write a balanced ionic equation, for the reaction between clorine and sodium thio sulphate so far i`ve got 2s2o3 (-2) + cl2 ---> 2cl (-1) + s4o6 (-2) is this going in the right direction? and were and how do i fit in the sodium part of the equation? this is for my wife who is doing her a level chemistry |

I got a B in A level chem, but it's been 4 years since I last balanced an chemistry equation, so I'm not sure either. I think it looks right and it's going in the right direction, to fit the sodium in, how about this? 2 Na2S203 + 2 Cl2 --> S406(2-) + 4 NaCl Don't know for sure though really rusty at this. |

Acid + Base = Salt Thats about as much as i remember. Also in any experiment always add more then required that way when they check the yeild and purity it's always higher, ahh University i miss it so Regards Wolfe |

Strings' equation sounds right, Jig. Sodium Thiosulphate is your Acid, Chlorine is your Base, and Sodium Chloride is the salt in the equation. I did A-level chemistry as well...but I only got an E out of it. Damn I hated most of it. It was waaay harder than GCSE Chemistry! I liked organic Chemistry though...well, the easy bits anyway. Sounds like I did chemistry at the same time as you, Strings! |

looks right. Though I'm much more familiar with actual mathematical equations like the poisson-boltzmann one for example |
