I'm not that impressed... lots of sparks, welders, seems to be built on Earth, and a very old Nemoy... I don't recall many ships that were built on Earth, Cochran's Phoenix was, but the NX-01 was built in space, and that was in the 22nd century, so why should the Federation have to build ships back on the ground in the 23rd century? A look around on startrek.com I found an article for the Enterprise NCC-1701 that says:

"Launched in 2245, the original and illustrious starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 was built in the San Francisco Yards orbiting Earth." (http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/l ... 70377.html)

This means the film will likely have major history rewrite (or just lack of research) I'm not too bothered about rewriting history, every series did a bit, but seriously, welders? The dirty and dark conditions that the ship is being built in, coupled with the fact that it is being welded by hand, is not what I would call safe nor accurate engineering required for constructing a large space ship. I'm sure even today we use robotic welding to build spacecraft. Not impressed so far.

But I guess they've achieved their aim in releasing this teaser, as it should get a lot of trekkies talking.

I had the same reaction. (Moody artsy but not technically believable.) It is also of interest that the progression of voices from our history to trek fantasy works to tie today with the trek fantasy tomorrow. It feels similar to the lead-in sequence for the TV series Enterprise going from history to fantasy future.
