Every some time I try to find updates or patches so I can play BotF again, ... if only singleplay. So via Wiki I found this forum.

WoW you guys making BotF2 ... AWESOME !!! :waah:

Still not :nahuh: many other games beat the fun gameplay of BotF.

I cant wait till it comes out ! Since the bad news of startrek-online  ... I felt a bit down, ... but now Im happy again. :bigthumb:

thx, you may try http://www.armadafleetcommand.com/botf for a lot of good mods for botf1. botf2 as in Supremacy and BotE are worth a shot too. Supremacy can be downloaded and played around a bit (still no AI) and BotE is currently in the repair facility but when it comes out, it sure serves your wish for a botf1 challenging gameplay too ;). So stay tuned and start with downloading Supremacy :).

another hint maybe: if you're on that site with the botf1 mods, you might be looking out for a topic called installer enhanced mods. Those are much easier to install (if you still got the botf original cd) than the ones in the download section which contains a lot of "old" mods too. The best ones are UM3, UDM2, BoP and UcW (you quickly get to learn what those abbreviations mean once you found the installer enhanced forum thread ;)).

Y I still have the original CD ... Problem is I seem to be unable to play it on current systems.

I probably know what BoP means :D ... Bird Of Prey, I figure.

not quite ;). One could imagine though. BoP means Balance of Power and is a mod dedicated to removing all AI flaws as much as possible and giving you the hardest botf experience ever so it's only for the pros ;).

btw. those installers make the game playable on nearly every machine nowadays. It has some patch included that just does that. Try it out.

Malvoisin is right, Kahlest - there are patches over on the BOTF forums that fix the game so it works on Windows XP!

...However, I say patches because there are several of them, and for a reason. For some unknown reason, there isn't a patch that works for everyone. Some people need patch 1, while other people need patch 2. You will also need to update your game to version 1.02. (If you have the American version - the English/German version has the updated version already on the CD) There is no way to predict which version of the XP patch that you will need, so you're gonna have to try both. And even then there is a (Small) possibility that your game still won't work after you've tried them both. Don't worry if this happens to you though, because there are some very talented people on the forums - such as Joker - that may be able to figure out what is going wrong for you.

You can also download a .iso version of BOTF from the site. This will allow you to play the game without your CD - and it will run waaay faster than normal to boot, since no disk access is required. This unfortunately doesn't fix the memory leak in the game though. There is no way to fix this. :(

If you download the .iso image, you will need to download a mounting pogram as well, such as Daemontools. There are other programs out there, but Daemontools is easy to use, and most importantly is freeeee.

You can find information on how to install the .iso in This Link. Sorry I can't give you the links to download the patches and the .iso but the BOTF forums require you to be signed up to and logged into the forums before any links will work.

You can also download Supremacy from Here.

Welcome to the forums. :)
