there's a thread on startrek-games.com about that game and zach did a short review on it saying that he has "mixed" feelings about it. I doubt it's anything like botf in the end

Has anyone played this game? It just came out recently and is an interesting hybrid of 3d real time spaceship combat, and galactic empire management. I am hopeful that someone will see how BotF could fit into this game so well, especially if the diplomacy, minor races, intelligence aspects of BotF could be modded into Sins. Anyone know if any of the BOTF mod projects are looking into this game? There is a star trek mod in the works on the Sins forums already, but I am not sure if anyone working on that has played BOTF. http://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/po ... 73883&p=10 |

I haven't played the game, but it definitely sounds interesting. The extremely positive review on Gamespot definitely piqued my interest in the game. I'd certainly like to hear other people's thoughts on it.

Its a 4x as in has a large research tree, and has limited diplomacy as in make a alliance or trade in resources. Its real time so no turn based stuff. Its combat is comparable to homeworld 2 but less detailed slightly. Its action is like supcom. Has a large playing area when u play on large maps. Medium is doable with a mate in 7 hrs ish. No copy protection so fans of that will be happy. Serial for bonus updates. Multiplayable with directip fine (no serial needed). Highly modable game. |
