Greetings all. Although the new version of the Botf2 support database has been online for a few weeks now, it was not 'announced' as it were, here in the public forums. The previous version was in need of refining and improving, as well as the completion of a number of sections that lacked content. One of the main areas that needed work was the Minor race database. This has been completely overhauled. A couple of new races were added to make the nice round number of 150. I've speculatively incorporated many new control variables for these races, including race functions, combat values, default ship strategies, diplomacy styles and so on. Also the diplomatic first contact dialogue has been completed for each of the races for each of the five empires (that took the writing of 750 individual chunks of text!) Other new database areas include: -Complete Empire Structure lists, with stats and descriptions for all empires (with several structure changes) -Minor race ships table and stats (big thanks also to Moe and Zeleni) -Diplomacy dialogue for all the empires (all done except Dominion) -Minor race diplomacy dialogue (as yet incomplete) -An Intel section detailing hundreds of Intellgience reports -A variety of further rebalancing to stats Just in summary once more, this is a dev support database of my own design, with of course collaboration from the community, to establish baseline data and formulas for the nuts and bolts for game creation. It's not a written-in-stone roadmap for Botf2, but a guideline, and open to all devs to dip into where ever they wish, in accordance with their own interpretation and vision. Its still a WIP and all up for further discussion. cheers The link: BOTF2 Database |

Cool, Dafedz are you planning to do ship descriptions for all the ships in the database, bleh have fun with that . Or delegate it to some young fresh naive ensign eager to help out. I'am sure a few have joined recently Regards Wolfe |

With more than 4000 members, i'm sure there is bound to be *someone* who will end up doing it, Wolfe. With my internet access down at home at the moment, I have been unable to access the database to continue my Supremacy updates. (I'm in uni at the moment) as soon as my internet is back up and running, i'll continue with the updates. I'm now about halfway through updating the minor race diplomacy messages, their home systems, their special structures, and their ship designs. I've also added in all of the new special structures that Dafedz has kindly provided for us. In the mean time, i've been having a go at completely rewriting the descriptions for the techs, since we noticed some nasty typos in the text that appeared during the last update (That I recieved, i'm not sure if Mike has made any updates since Friday. I've already sent him a spellchecked copy of the tech descriptions), but I thought what the hell, I can't do anything else while i'm offline. I'll send you a copy of the updated descriptions as soon as I can when they're done Dafedz. |
