Yes, still alive and kicking!!!! :bigthumb:

Apparently, LHC didn't destroy the world  .

The LHC hasn't started colliding yet.

Who needs LHC to find the Higgs ?
hehe see this  :

You know there's a special event on when Google change their logo. I've been watching the news about the LHC but they made surprisingly little mention about our impending doom.

Post subject:  Re: Are you still there?

They made unsurprisingly little mention about our impending doom because nothing's gonna happen obviously.

Perhaps, that would be a nice random event for Supremacy, ie while you research, say fusion or biology or whatever, there is a small probability that you will have an accident and lose  for x rounds the specific or all structures/population in the moon/planet/sector depending on the research:
fusion=>explosion=>affects buildings/structures
biology=>mutated virus=>affects population and so on.

However, it should have a really really small probability. And in any case there are many episodes in Star Trek where this has happened...

Like the Klingon lunar power station :borg:

I've already got in randoms where you lose research in different fields. And yes, i've got a Praxis-style event in there as well. Obviously since this is a random event it could happen anywhere in your Empire so whilst Praxis isn't specifically mentioned...we all know what it's referring to.

Fusion Meltdown (Energy research takes a massive hit, large population loss in a random system and increase in risk of a negative climate change event in that system. This event is on the scale of Praxis)
Starfleet priority communique. All captains within range of system _____ report to the system immediately. The large power production and research plant on _____ went into fusion meltdown. The explosion has knocked a moon out of orbit, destabilised the atmosphere and killed thousands - but millions more are now at risk from radioactive fallout, debris, and sudden climate shifts. The scale of the devastation cannot be adequately described. This tragedy will impact the Federation economy, power production, and research efforts for decades to come. F
lot! The energy research complex on _____ has exploded! The plasma emissions and radioactive fallout ignited the atmosphere of the planet, killing thousands of Warriors in their sleep. They died without their weapons, without an enemy to fight - and without honor. The Empire will never forget this. The system will carry the scars of the devastation for decades to come. K

There is a website answering the threads question:

PS: Look at the source code ;)

This is very funny  !!! Especially, the comment in the source code as said Acrklor said!!!!!

Actually, I have minor comment on the part that the explosion knocked a moon out of orbit... A fusion meltdown can't do this (with known physics) because the energy released by the fusion meltdown is not enough to alter the effects of gravity (energy couples directly to gravity but you'd need way huge amounts of it to make it work). So to make it more Star Trekish I'd suggest adding something like

The explosion created subspace ripples in the spacetime continuum that knocked a moon out of orbit ...

PS We can't mess with real physics, but we can mess with Star Trek physics

Post subject:  Re: Are you still there?

depends on the size and efficiency of the fusion reactor. Our good old sun can affect gravity once it explodes (that's when I get my refund hopefully ).

btw. that blue and purple font color is hurting my eyes .

That's a different kind of explosion (not due to fusion but lack of it actually), since the Sun is not heavy enough to go supernova (explode) and will end up as a miserable white dwarf, so you won't get a refund  !

Well, not with Federation technology! El-Aurians (besides Q) have been shown in the series to make stars go supernova and that with trilithium warheads (Star Trek: Generations). However, such weapons (if manifactured) I bet would be banned in the Federation :gripe:

PS Sorry for using the colours...

Post subject:  Re: Are you still there?

The explosion was on the Moon. :mischief:

Meh I just wrote it coz it sounds good. If you've really got a gripe with it then write your own version. :P

The blue font is harder on the eyes than the pink. I usually use pink or purple for the Dominion and Cyan or another light shade for the Federation.

I wonder how that guy is planning to pay for the refund? Hopefully he uses paypal.

it's more the indigo or violet color along with dark blue that is terrible to read on grey backgrounds. I would avoid using those colors wherever possible.

Actually I thought it was on the main planet because you said "knocked a moon", which doesn't necessarily mean that the research was on that moon...

I just mention my opinion as a physist and a Trekker...
