Hmm...that looks better than I was expecting. Matress wants to know what that explosion is about. Kirk and the guy that I assume is Scotty are wrong though. They just don't fit in, especially Kirk. Spock, Uhura, McCoy and Chekov look fantastic though. Great casting there for those characters. It'll be interesting seeing how well Sylar plays the brooding, quiet, calculating, Spock...oh wait, I just answered that point. |

Yes, that is Simon Pegg with black hair doing Scotty. Simon is a good actor so I am not very worried. He is also a good comedian and his wife, Scottish, and a vocal coach helped him get the accent. Given that they could not cast the original crew the new actors will have to make the role their own. By that I mean trying to be or channel the old actor would not work. They need to do the basic personality with there own talent. To see if they can win us over means seeing the film. I will withhold judgment until there is more to go on. I like the iphone look of the new bridge, check out all the photos online, and the updated old uniforms. I think Kirk likes that the ladies have short skirts again. It looks like the captains get black tops now? There is said to be something in the story about this. Spock may need some refresher classes in Vulcan anger management. |

Kenneth_of_Borg wrote: It looks like the captains get black tops now? According to the second link, the black is just the undershirt - so we haven't seen him wearing the full captains uniform yet. Then again, he appears like that on the front cover of magazine as well. Maybe he's already ripped off his top for the women, although I can't see any rip marks yet so that might be a future scene. |

Not bad, the bridge is better than I expected after seeing those corridor images a while back. |

There is more on the black shirt: "Bonus Question on Kirk’s Shirt TrekMovie: Regarding the other pictures, there has been a lot of questions about how Kirk is never seen in a gold shirt, will we see him in the gold? Orci: That is a big question…we have given it a lot of thought. Kurtzman: It is not a random thing. There is a reason his shirt is the color that it is." Look for the rest on it and more here http://trekmovie.com/ |

I'm greatly anticipating it. Simon Pegg looks like a great Scotty - seems perfect for the role. I'll be there for the midnight showing, although my calender shows one of the multiple dates for "Final Exams" on the day afterward. |

Quote: Lindelof compared the film's Romulan faction to pirates with their unique tattoos and disorganized costuming. Their ship is purely practical with visible mechanics, as they are on a mission, unlike the Enterprise crew who give a respectable presentation on behalf of the Federation Quote: The actors shaved their heads for the roles to differentiate them from Vulcans. Well, Matress your fellow Romulans are bald pirates? I'd like to hear your comments |

These pirates are a band of rogues who are unconnected with the great Star Empire. No self-respecting Romulan would bite off parts of their ears, cover their skin in war paint or shave off their sideburns. It is obviously a Vulcan ploy to besmirch the name of the great Star Empire. |

Director Kevin Smith, a friend of JJ's, has seen the film. He had this to say about the new film. Q: Why does Star Trek work? KS: Star Trek works in a way where you’re sitting there going, I can’t believe this works. I remember when they announced it, I felt like look, it’s one thing to introduce a whole new cast of characters. It’s another thing if you’re going to take the original characters, have other people play them, and do a Muppet Babies version of Star Trek. But it *!&@$ing works like gangbusters. The credit goes to JJ and his writers, but definitely to the cast. They pull it off. Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk in the movie, does not do a William Shatner impression, but, at the same time, he’s unmistakably Captain Kirk. He just brings all the brio, the gusto, everything about Kirk except Shatner’s deliver to bear on the character. It doesn’t disavow anything that’s gone before. It lives side by side with everything that’s gone before in Star Trek lore, in the movies, and the TV show. He did a great, great job. It’s totally a fun movie. Q: How was Simon Pegg as Scotty? KS: Simon Pegg was good. I don’t want to spoil too much because they made me sign an NDA as well. But he’s not right front and center right away. He comes into the movie later. I’m not going to compare it to Blues Brothers, but it’s definitely a bringing the band back together even though they’ve never been together movie. So the characters come in slowly. Slowly they bring in character by character. And Scotty’s the last one they bring in. But he’s pitch perfect. |

Do you think JJ will make a movie with the bald Captain as well? They could find load of new ideas from back when he was young! (and not bald) Then again, I'm asking too much... Tea. Earl Grey. Hot! By the way, have you seen this page with Star Trek games? http://www.jedihaven.com/games.htm The first: Kirk vs Picard is one of my favorites! If you want some great laughs, check these two: "Drinking With Starfleet" and "USS Enterprise Two - The Wrath of Riker". Especially the latter, while you need some time to finish, has a great plot, great lines and multiple endings! |
