The new Star Trek movie trailer will premiere on November 14th in front of the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace (in the US and Canada). Some British fans thought that the trailer would show up with that film when it opened in the UK last week, but that was not the case. Paramount does not want to make any official announcements right now on the EU release dates. It is not yet known when it will be available online at the official site and other sites. |

It's what he's doing with his fingers that i'm wondering about. I didn't realise Obama was a Vulcan. |

That image isn't photoshopped, because Reagan is too awesome for that. Now I'm done, because if we start going political, bad things are going to happen. Seriously, no more political talk, or I will exert my never-used mod abilities and lock this topic. |

I have some good news. My involvement with Mr. Abrams favorite charity and a lot of dumb luck has gotten me two passes to the red carpet premier of the new Star Trek Film. In May of 2009 my wife and I will be his guests at the first showing attended by the cast, crew and Hollywood elite. If you have any questions for the director, actors or production team let me know. I will tell them you all said hey. I will let you and him know what I think of his little film. |

Also, I'd heard something about a new Star Trek series (can't remember where but probably in some thread here). Would he (JJ) consider geting involved? I think they are simple questions than may be of general interest |

I have already seen that Paramount's contracts with the actors has an option for at least two more films. I will try to ask JJ, Mr. Abrams, about the his plans at that point in time. It seams clear it will be the Kirk era. Paramount needs to see they will make enough to cover the overhead on a new film. I think this one ran something like 150 million US dollars to make. Paramount has asked for and performed a criminal background check on us. They also said we will have someone (a minder) from the studio to escort us. Clearly we will not just be wondering around chit chatting with the principal player but I do hope we can get close enough to thank JJ and ask your questions. That is a good question about a TV series. JJ appears to have done more TV than film and it makes a lot of sense. I respect the actors and all they can do (that I can not.) It is, however, the writers, director and production in general that really interests me. We will not be trying to get a lot of autographs and photos with the stars like whacked out children. We will try to talk with JJ and company, Paramount minder permitting. |

I'm more interested in what their plans for series are than for films. A new crew, ship, race, or timeframe would be a welcome addition in my mind. Ok, films make more money in the short-term, but the current generation will grow up with only repeats or a one-off film. The franchise as a whole needs a clean break with a brand new series for us long-time fans and the next generation alike to nerd over. |

I think they may have been influenced by the ways Battlestar Galactica reinvented the original BSG series. A little same old but more new and intelligent. The original Star Trek The Movie was made in reaction to the release of Star Wars. I hope they do better this time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si886sGZHgI |

Action, action and then some more action - this is the star wars, mission impossible III, influence that JJ wanted in his take on the story. I like the camera work. Lets see if the whole film holds together. |

OK, I'm really excited with the new trailer... lots of action and as Kenneth said, action and then some more action again!!!!! However, trailers tend to be misleading sometimes, but the first signs are good I think!!!! |

But some trailers turn out to show exactly what the film is like. Take Quantum of Solace for instance. Boring trailer, boring film. Worst bond ever in fact. I hope they've actually left room for a decent plot line in Trek though. Action is good, but it isn't everything. Take Nemesis for instance, then look at all the character-developing scenes they cut just to add in some crappy and unbelievable action scenes. Idiots. I just want a Trek film with a believable storyline, lots of character development, and plenty of eye candy too boot. A film that manages to do that will definitely get the thumbs up from Matress. We'll just have to wait and see what Trek 11 is like. *Edit - I just Saw The Trailers. Oh my god oh my god oh my god. I take everything back. Trek, you have returned to me. I am your number one fan again. |

JJ and the writers are no fools. It sounds like it will have all of that. You get the young kirk talking, unlike the Shat, where. not. every. word. is. like. it's. own. sentence. and growing up a rebellious smart-ass snot. Spock gets teased by the other kids and his parents send him to Vulcan anger management classes. There is your character development. They meet at the Academy where Kirk thinks the girls, again in short skirts, is a great thing. Kirk cheats on that Kobayashi Maru thingy and then there is a Pearl Harbor like surprise attach and the action never stops except maybe to squeeze in a little sex. Or maybe just Uhura takes off her top. We will see. I just got back form LA so work may start again soon on ships. It took two days to hack up all the smoke from the fires out there. We could see where one fire jumped the freeway and burned several of the hundreds of homes lost. |

BTW did you notice that the car starts out with a white cloth top on and in the next shot it is taken off. Opps - or is it not in sequence? |

And one last quote from Abrams at The Hollywood Reporter has some scratching their heads. In talking about the marketing of the film, Abrams told the trade: "Oh, there’s a whole crazy campaign that is going to … It’s insane. We have a life-size Enterprise, but I’m not allowed to talk about it." TrekMovie has sought clarification from Paramount, but so far they are keeping mum on specifics for their marketing plan except to say it is going to be big. |

JJ likes to keep thing secret for a time. In this case it could be so the appearance will have more impact when the promotion begins. I was wondering if they are making a helium balloon in the shape of the big E but we will see. |

Good idea. The experience sets were purchased by another Vages hotel. Talk is that they will update and reopen along with the new film. Vages would be the place for something bizarre like a life size Enterprise. They can fly it over from Area 51. We will see. |
