sorry..i guess this has been asked a million times, im just really hyped for it. Im playing BOTE right now and enjoying that, but it just doesnt feel the same without the star trek characters. Supremacy feels like its going to be the better game...it just has a more 'personal' feel to it...and i cant wait to play as the dominion (btw - just my oppinion, i think the representative face for the dominion should be Weyoun the vorta (When viewing the dominion in the diplomacy screen)..since they are the official diplomats, or weyoung standing near a founder)

anyway...just want to say, game is looking great. I dont play supremacy anymore because it is unplayable due to the AI...but i cant wait till it is, ide be willing to pay cash for it.

cheers, Oh and i hope you guys end up going with the "buy" option instead of the "double shift" for the labour... :)

Hail, Halldome, and welcome aboard. :bigthumb:

The game will always be a free for download as it is a “Fan Based Game”

As for game images they are being devolved on a daily bases so they are always subject to change. also there is a game editor for players to add their on content it is found in your install folder on your harddrive.

I’m sure all the members building the Supremacy project thank you for the kind words, and BotE will surely have a Star Trek mod to it once all the images and combat systems are fully functioning.

A release date well……. it when it is ready that "day" will be its release date.

Since fan-based games are only worked on during free time, it'll be done when it's done. Things will definitely feel more complete, though, once an AI is in place.

Hey Halldome, welcome to the forums! :)

Sorry for my tardy reply, I somehow missed this thread. As Val and Az said above, the game will be done whe it is done; we're not a big games company that is being paid to work to a schedule, we're all simply volunteers that are working on it as and when we can, so the more help we get, the faster we can make stuff.

Probably the most important aspect of the game will be the Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will take control of the other empires and races and basically make them play against you. The AI will also take over any order automation that you tell it to do so (Eg. colony development if you're the type of player that doesn't like micromanagement). To my knowledge, Mike (The developer), has barely started working on the AI code, although he does have some big plans for it. He's told me that we're probably looking at around a year before even a prototype version of the AI is ready for implementation. Mike also has a million-and-one other things that he wants to add or change, so it's definitely going to be a while even after the AI is implemented before the game is "complete".

You also need to know that we're trying to make the game as moddable as possible so people can change their game to whatever they want (Such as adding new ships or races, changing the images, etc). In that respect, game development will likely -and hopefully - be going on for many, many years; just look at BOTF afterall, it's 10 years old now and people are still actively playing and modding it. If people like Supremacy even half as much as BOTF, the development of the game in the modding sense is going to continue for a long time to come.

For these reasons, we can't give you a specific date as to when the game will be complete. It will simply be done when it is done.

But it will be finished when it's done. :borg:

Sorry. I do not want you to think we are blowing you off. It is wonderful that you care enough even to ask. We also care enough to spend what is now years working for free out of our Passion for the project. It is a learning process where we gain new skills as we develop the game. We have transitioned from just playing games to making them and making them as much fun as we can. We will get to the goal but for now it will have to be more about the quest.
