We made it to Hollywood after an eight hour drive. It was just in time to make the last tour of the Grumman's Chinese Theater before it was closed to prep for the ST Premiere. They closed the street in front of the theater and worked all night to set up the red carpet area in the street. There is a bleachers area and presentation stand shaped like the Federation delta emblem. We were told to get in early as they expect a large crowed. Security is already tight and we will have to check cameras and cell phones at the door. It is set to show at 7:30 PM pacific coast time. I will post what photos I can later. Live long and prosper.

It is worth the wait. No one will like everything but in the end this is the best ST film yet. I have some photos with a few Stars after the film. When I get home next week I can upload them. We can talk about the film when you have seen it.

Bill's star on Hollywood Boulevard is in front of the Mann Chinese Theater complex just down from the entrance to the Star Trek premiere. The new Kirk and me The brains, screen writers and me Oldies but goodies and me The good Doctor and me Greenwood with the ladies Show time Abrams talk, notice the sad brown eyes The real Spock and his wife heading for the limo. Preparation for the show Setting up the media interview area in Hollywood Boulevard that morning. To the right you get a glimpse of the Kodak Theater, home of the academy awards show.

Ooh I like that tie as well. Didn't notice it til the Captain mentioned it. It's a shame about the blurry pic of you with Mr and Mrs Troi. Damn if that was me i'd be crying about that one. I would have wanted to frame it if it had came out right. I'm officially gonna be seeing this film twice when it comes out. Both mum and my best friend want to see it with me, but i'm not taking them both at the same time.

It was a great time. Too bad about the soft focus but I still cherish that photos. We got to star gaze as the audience came in as well. Beside the full ST cast there was Tom Cruise, Samuel L. Jackson, the actor that plays Hurly on lost, and Hero Nakamori from Heroes to name a few.
You will not like everything about this new film but in the end it is still very good. I hope it does well enough to make more. Roberto said that Alex and he will have a part in writing any sequels.

The only one I saw that looked a little sad was Walter Koenig, TOS Chekhov. I did not get Takie's reaction. I only saw him across the room when Abrams introduce actors before the film.

Matress gets his own premiere soon. He's gonna see it in about an hour. I'll post the results of my espionage activity on this Kirk character as soon as i've determined the possible threat factor from him to the Star Empire.

Yes, it is a fun movie. There are all those issues with the science and the inconsistencies in the interior shots on the Enterprise but just a fun film in the end.
JJ Abrams wanted the engine room to look like it was a 23rd century Titanic engine room with exposed conduits, nuts and bolts. He used industrial locations in the Long Beach area to film those shots. They should have gone about dressing them up in a different manner. It ended up looking to unlike the rest of the ship and more like today.
Karl Urban was a bad choice for McCoy. He did such a good job it makes Kirk and Spock look bad by comparison. Still it is a great film.

Great pics man im sooooo jealouse * MIGHT BE ABIT OF SPOLI-AGE BELOW BUT NOT MUCH* Gotta admit i saw it yestaday and thought i was a absolutly mint film.... but i didnt like fact that the romulans looked diffrent... and its abit wired with what happend to vulcan... but all i have to say is..... FOOOOOKING TIMELINE storys are the most annoying thing on the planet.... they do annoy me.... i thought the guy who played kirk did a foooking ace job and so did bones and spock they were all good. Its just trek being re-invented for younger people. Yes i liked it as a film and yes it was a good star trek film But still think that we should bring back Ronald D. Moore get him to do another one, but do it in the style of the new film and i think you will have someone is a trek fan making a good film rather than a non trek fan trying to.

I though JJ was a trek fan? Anyway, you are right about Bones, his performance in terms of 'immitating' the prvious bones was spectacular, especially having to put on an 'alabaman drawl' is it? . Regards Wolfe

Jesus that film is incredible! Seriously, if anyone is reading this post and doesn't believe what everyone has said so far, believe me and get your ass out to the cinema now to watch it! It isn't perfect, but as a film in its own right it is definitely the best film i've seen so far this year. It definitely beat Wolverine. The special effects are spectacular, they obviously took a leaf out of the new Battlestar Galactica with the camera angles and the general feel of the fleet, and the actors were perfect choices with some great lines - especially McCoy, he did a fantastic job of resurrecting the character. Matress was happy to see Uhura and the Orion girl get some screen time as well... But as I said, there are some criticisms. Don't read the next bit if you want to avoid spoilers but... The warts-and-all-look of the engine room was a really good idea, but they also really should have at least attempted to dress it up. A 21st century factory building does not look like a 23rd century engine, especially when you can see the walls are made of that most space-faring of substances, concrete! The scene with Scotty and the water tubes didn't fit in at all with the factory either, because those tubes did look relatively spacey - although i'm not sure why you would have Deuterium feeder tubes running round the ship like that, and certainly not with a blender at the end! As Billy said as well, choosing a time travel plot that completely destroys the known timeline AND doesn't have a reset of some kind was a terrible choice of storyline. Enterprise was bad enough in that particular respect, but doing what they did to Vulcan, that is completely unthinkable. And that still doesn't solve the ultimate problem with Romulus - the natural disaster is still going to happen. Nero completely failed to stop that from happening. If anything, he has now doomed Romulus, not saved it. They also didn't explain what happens to future Spock, especially since his ship - and timeline - are now gone. I would also like to know why the fleet is at Lantara or Mutara or whatever that place was that they kept referring to. They never explained why they had amassed there. Uhura should also have reported the loss of the Klingon fleet to a ranking officer as well - she had intelligence indicating a possible new threat, one that had opened a substantial hole in the Klingon navy that Starfleet would have found very useful, and yet she didn't tell anyone about it. And my final rant is about Nero's ship. It's a mining ship for gods sake! Yes it was designed to tear up planets, but it would not be as heavily armed as they made it out to be, no matter how advanced it was. And why was it armed with those wierd drones anyways? Why didn't it use Plasma Torpedoes or Disruptors? Those weapons were more like something from Andromeda than Star Trek. Anyways, rant over. In itself, this is one of the best movies around. Mind-blowing special effects, actors that were worth their pay check, and the film definitely learned some good lessons from the new Battlestar Galactica. But from a long-time Trekkies perspective, it needed a few quality more control checks. If you want to see a good film, you won't go wrong with this one. But if you're a long-term trekkie, expect to notice some problems. But then again, there hasn't been a a perfect film since Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

The holes in the story regarding Romulus etc can easily be wrapped up in the sequel. I think that a sequel is definitely possible, since as of writing this, the film has amassed ~75 mil. $ in just the premiere! My question about the plot is the following (from a hard-core Trekkie's perspective): Since the time-traveling of both Spock and Nero altered the timeline, resulting in the destruction of Vulcan and Romulus, why didn't any of the douchebags from the 31st century, like Daniels or his "timecop" colleagues, interfere? Of course, the answer is obvious... (it would complicate the film needlessly etc)

Ok timelines or not; they summed it up to protect the last 40+ yrs, as this being an alternate timeline, [Nimoy] Spock is helping colonize the new Vulcan Home world. The movie overall was too short, and when targeting for the 2hr normal movie slots it is going to open gaps in the credibility of the story line. This movie could have easily been 3hrs long. I feel it would have also pushed better sales in the box office.
75 mil. is only US figures only. It also made close to 56 mil in Europe. World wide = $112 mil.{USD}
Overall the movie was great I liked it better then all the rest of the ST movies even with its weakened storyline. I can't wait for 2011 for the second movie..

So now Kirk, and likely young Spock, know how old Spock messes up. The Romulan home world will not get wiped and Vulcan will be saved and then where is our time line? Bother said Pooh.

No you see because it is an alternate reality, it means that the 'other' dimension without romulus but still with Vulcan still exists. A bit like how there can be a terran empire reality and a normal star trek reality. When Nero and Spock went through the blackhole they didn't just simply go back in time but also into another reality. My guess is that in Star Trek you can have both events occuring. In this case they went to another reality. So technically yes they can go and fix the star from going supernova thus saving romulus / remus. Now there could or could not be another Nero this reality dependng on how evets pan out, unliely without vulcanthouh given the detrimea chngesit would have on both the quadrant and the federation. That s my undersanding of it anyway Regards Wolfe

Actually I did understand that so we should count this as another science flow in the script. Spock should have said they were jumping to an alternate universe and time and not just back in time to the now altered time line.

Rumor has it the next ST film project will be two movies filmed back to back in 2010. The story line will carry over from one to the next with release in 2011 and 2012. They already have the cast from the last one on a two more films option. Now we will see what realy happens.
