Hey, i know i've only been a part of these forums for a few days, but i've been waiting for a new BOTF game for ages now!

Does anyone have any news on what is going on with the development of BOTF2? I've checked, and i can't really find much mention over what has happened over the last month.

Is there a projected release date for BOTF2? (In any form) And how big will it be to download?

To be fair to the guys in charge this question has been asked quite a lot lately, I don't think they're exactly sure yet.

The beta version will be made available to a select few this side of christmas if all goes well, at least this has always been the target and I believe it's ahead of schedule.

Once the grounding is in place the work on content and implementation of new ideas will probably lead to an initial release within the next 4-6 months, at least that's the impression I've got.

Bear in mind this first release will not have tactical combat in the botf sense, there will be a flat playing field with ships only being able to move to the sides, rather than up and down. I'd hope the proper tac combat will be finished by the end of '05.

Excellent! So only another year to go?

I've waited so many years for a new game, i don't mind waiting another - if it means that the new game is gonna be great (which it is)
