It might be a rip-off, but my interest is piqued. Matress wants one!
...Incidentally, so does his boss...for work purposes of course...

The iPad bugs me. It's a giant ipod touch, without anything special about it. You can get tablets at similar sizes (but not thickness, alas) with a full fledged OS and Processor. If HP or Dell or IBM or anyone else released something like this running 7, I'd be very very interested. But the iPad is crippled, both in hardware and software. There isn't even any USB!
oh, and the name is ridiculously bad.

oh, and the name is ridiculously bad. The problem with tablet PCs is that they're a poor form factor. Traditional operating systems and software are too complex to operate conveniently without a keyboard and mouse. Apple's idea is that for casual users, iPhone/iPod Touch apps are more user-friendly. A little kid or an old person could pick up an iPad and start using it with little or no training. Power users like us have no need for such a device, though. I for one am glad that I don't feel compelled to drop $850 on one of those things--I could buy a lot of other stuff for that kind of money .

Well put, Mike. And @Matress, I simply see no reason why Matress would want an Ipad . It looks nice, but it simply doesn't have the capabilities of the Ipod Touch. Oh well, there's my two cents.

Wait a few years and you will see that the Star Empire had great plans for the Ipad. Of course it will be too late by then...

Of course. However, in the meantime, you could enlist spies to... acquire... an Ipad. Oh wait, that might look suspicious . And yes, in a few years, I'm sure whatever plans the Senate of Matress has will be obsolete, and new plans will have to be made...

I wish they would spend more time making a deal with Verizon to have the iPhone. As far as the iPad, I do like the simple design. I understand it does have an input jack for a keyboard. Bashir

Yeah, i've been reading up on it and it does have a keyboard jack. I'd like to know if it'll be a USB one though. If it is, all you would need is the one USB port to connect up your keyboard, camera, phone, charger...anything.
