Star Trek. Hej who expected that. Star Trek XI really got an Oscar. Okay it´s only for Costumes but still better then nothing. I wasn´t expexting it to be nominated for any Oscars. Hopefully the next one will get some more of the golden ones.

As Sean Pegg (Scotty) said a few years back on a TV show of his, Spaced, "everyone knows that the odd numbers Star Trek films are crap" - so perhaps its justice that he appeared in one and also that it won an Oscar!

The win, the first for a Trek film, was for Makeup. It was clearly the standout film for that. Avatar was all CG but JJ wanted a different look. It worked for most of the aliens.

Just think. If Avatar had won best picture or best director it would have been the first time a Sci-fi genre' film had taken one of the top Oscars. At least it might have been the first nominated for those top spots. Cameron may have broken a barrier for the genre'. And he's going to do more... Bashir
