Heya, I've had some ideas about a new Trek fan-game. This time based on flash. I know, flashgames aren't that favoured, but they're a cheap and rather easy (at least in regards of disk-space) way. Especially since I played Flashtrek Broken Mirror and Flash Trek V2, I've found the idea to make a simple yet comprehensive game just fascinating. The idea is based on Broken Mirror. You chose a race (one of out 13) and get a small ship (shuttle or smallest ship, depending on racial setup), then you fly around, trade or fight to gain money. You raise in the ranks which give you access to technology, higher-qualified missions and ships. There are for each race 11 ship-classes (escort, two destoyers and cruisers each, frigate, warship, battlesship and -cruuiser, dreadnought and an 'ultimative ship'), excluding freighter and shuttle. Eventual goal is to get all planets, i.e. all other races under one hat. Either by subduing them (Klingon, Borg, 8472) or by allying (Federation, Civillians, Ferengi). Since I lack the capability to code it, as well as the powers to make proper art, I thought about asking here, knowing that there's a great deal of such talent around (one just needs to look at the games already in progress). So, anyone in for it? |

The first thing is someone to code. As modeler artists I can not help you. At this time and for the duration I have my hands full with Supremacy. If you find you have a viable project we do accommodated multiple games here. It helps the community as a whole. We would love to have more coders in the fold. Good luck and keep on trecking. ![]() |

Well, I do think it's a viable game-idea. I've asked Jig and she suggested to go ahead. This forum here is the one place where I can be sure that my idea is at least listened to and I'm happy about that already. ![]() |

Yeah, go for it mate. If you get enough feedback i'll even create a new forum section for your game. ![]() |

Ooops sorry, can't see the beard here, can I? ![]() WEll, then I can at least remember that we're kindred. I've also spot long hair and a beard... Java? Meh, as long as they don't run around with their glowy eyes and begin stealing pieces of it like they do on Tatooine. Oh, wrong series. Bad thing is I'm not that good a coder on anything (and I've never done anything with Java in the first place). |

Well, I'm learning C# and C++ in school, and the Americans from Atlanta showed us how to handle Adobe Flash Builder, for exchange we showed them how to play Basketball( ![]() |

Whatever happened to your demo with the Cardie ships Jig? That looked promising when you were doing it. Unfortunately i've lost the files for it. I've still got your GUI though, and it actually still works. ![]() |

Had to drop it, once compiled the .exe would read all files shipped, if any were altered the game would not work. So it would not be possible to mod it ![]() ![]() |

Hehe the community would crucify you if you did! Well here's a bit of nostalgia for you. It's spoiler tagged to prevent thread distortion. Spoiler: show You know what, i've got a bit of time on my hands, i'll clean up some of the broken pixels in the graphics and get it looking shiner for you. ![]() Edit - damn, can't do it. I can't save .pcx files. ![]() |

Yeah, it was your original, mate. The .exe was compiled 18th September 2005. ![]() I've also still got the last one you did with SMIFFGIG'S big BOTF2 background. (I also spent ages sorting broken pixels on that one if you remember) As you know, I'm a stickler for detail. The broken pixels of the interface in the original were everywhere, they just aren't that easy to spot in the image above. You can see some near the top-left, bottom-left, and bottom-right of it if you look closely. Spoiler: show I've found a program that can save .pcx files now, so I fixed the broken pixels for you. Luckily it was just one image that needed to be sorted. Usually interfaces are made of loads of different images that get put together by the program. Spoiler: show |
