Ok first I'd like to say that I never played the original game though I do own it, mainly because it did not seem to work correctly on my system, and I had alot of what I heard were superior games in the same genre (moo2, galciv, stars!, etc)

I have a few questions.....

-What era's will the game encompass? Will it include stuff from ENTERPRISE (It would be weird to have a game named birth of the federation, without having stuff from the series featuring the botf?)

-Will this be a gamplay/balance based game, with a star trek theme (i.e good for anyone to play, even people who don't know/like trek) or a trek based game with some balance/gameplay thrown in (like so many comercial trek games do, and tend to fail)

-Will you be able to design ships? Perhaps by using a chassis system of some sorts (you won't neccissarily have to make ships that just look like
the galaxy class, you can name and design them as you please)

-Will you be forced into using only races exactly as they where in trek, or will they be customizable, similar to moo2?

-Will there be minor races, space creatures, traders, mercenaries, etc?

-Random events?

-Will this use mainly cannon stuff, or will it make up/use large amount sof semi-canon, or non-canon stuff (such as for era's where ship designs are needed for races like the romulans and others)

-Will there be any system of experience or captains that gain experience, making veteran ships more valuable.

-Are you trying to keep the same base ideas and concepts of BoTF 1? Or are you following in name only, and trying to just make a good game even if very little of the original comes through (better idea IMHO)

eras will be from enterprise, screw the time line i`m having my NX-01.
it will be a turn based game based on the trek universe.
you will not be able to design ships, although the game will be moddable.
not to sure how you mean custumize races, the normal paramaters should apply for the majors.
minor races will be in, no traders, trade will be set from system to system.
alien entities would come under randoms. so yes there will be random events.
mostly cannon, but dafedz and myself will need to design early era card and rom ships.
yes we will be keeping the same concept as the first game, as this is what everyone wants, a botf 2.
hope this answers your questions, welcome to the forums.

I have a question, though not really a question more a request. Please can you remember the original Romulan Bird of Prey, the white one with the feather design on it. I liked that ship from TOS and it was missing from the original.

easy enough for the starbase model to have runabouts in with it, give then a hardpoint each and they would act like moblie weapons platforms :D in fact i`ll go make one now to see how it looks

You know in TNG, most of the time at the end of an episode you would hear "set course for star base" and than what ever designation star base they were traveling too. Well since botf was based around the TNG universe, I would think this is a concept i'm surprised they left out of botf 1. Their should be an advantage of going back to a star base. Now how thats carried out, weather it's cargo supplies, personal transfers, R&R after a mission, thats up too you (although I personal feel all 3 should be included some how.) :D

Have a look at the thread with Fuel in it, that should answer your question.

for fuel, and repairs. thats will be the diference between botf and botf II.
you will need to protect them, or risk stranding a fleet in the middle of enemy territory, this will make for much harder gameplay, and leaves room for real strategy.

Exactly, knowing what ships to send on escourt and what ships to send for defence/attack. Just one ship in the wrong place can devestate your whole fleet. Gonna be good, real good.

I think this will be better than sex, how many times during sex can you keep having it for days. I'm never going to stop playing this game and somehow I think the local pizza delivery service will become very profitable soon! :D

I got in from work about 5 today, my girlfriend is away somewhere. I started playing botf about 6, I just put it down. That's the 6 year old botf!

When this game is finished my life, as it has been will be over. I will adapt......

I'd become Borg if it meant I could interact with this game on a whole new level. I think the trade-off would be far worth it! :P

Hmm, well my girlfriend's into trek and computers the same way i am. So its gonna make my life better than it is already, without loosing anything. I just wish theyd hurry up and invent Holorooms, so we could play trek in full 3d, actually seeing the ships shooting and being able to walk around in one. Now thats dreaming...
