For all of you who bought the DVD of Nemesis, how many thought the alternative ending was about a million times better. To me it was much more start-trekie! Very reminiscent of The Undiscovered Country. You know they were considering it because it went to post. You can tell because the blue screens that would have been on the windows and view screen were dubbed with CGI. I just want to know what everyone else thinks.

I don't have it, do you mean the thing with the chair? They ended up removing the seat belts and using the chair in Enterprise.

i take it you meant when picard was asked to try out the new captains chair, he sat down and some kind of automated seatbelt system deployed, he laughed and said "it's about time" .... i cant be sure till i find my copy

Yes but the line "It's a place where...where no one has gone before", I mean it's STAR TERK and if this is the last move of the next generation crew, like were it is, it should have ended like a star trek movie

I liked the alternate ending of Nemesis. Perhaps if had been tacked on to a different movie, I would have liked it more.
I just can't understand why the movie was made the way it was. There is no homage to the Wrath of Khan, it was a rip-off of the Wrath of Khan. Where the movies made the Klingons a new race, Nemesis killed off the romulan Senate in the opening sequence. The movie doesn't really have Romulans in it....
And I do not want to even begin with B4 Data clone. Needless to say, I was and still am very disappointed in Nemesis. It wasn't the way I wanted the TNG crew to go out, or even go.
Still humbly your servant,
Captain Hornblower of HMS Sutherland.

I totally agree, i even was against the enormous power of the Scimitar. I mean the difference of power between the D'Deridex and the Scimitar is just far to great. I did liked a lot of points about the movies, but who doesn't? I mean to look upon the Valdore Class is nice, or the Romulan HomeWorld, things like that. There were also a lot of scenes that weren't needed and made the movie even worse.

The only thing i never liked about Nemises was they used remans instead of romulans. And I would have liked the schimitar or whatever to be a new tal shiar top secret project that was going to be tested against the federation. That and the fact i always thought romulus and remus were both populated with romulans, jsut that the rich lived on romulous and the poor working class lived on remus. I never expected a subjegated race on remus. Totally spoiled it for me.
Although saying that i did like the cgi space battles. and inside the new remans ship but i hated the story about a cloned picard. Thought that was the worst bit.

It makes you wonder HOW they got the DNA sample though.
It was obviously taken a few years before the film is set, so that the clone could be made, and allow it to grow.
And then it was sent to the Reman mines, when a new Government came in, so it must have been quite a while.
And what would the reason for choosing Picard be? For all the Romulans knew, Picard could have died by the time the clone was fully grown!
I think this just points to inadequate thought about the plot on the writer's part.

um how old was shinzon anyway? 20? 25? as far as i can tell he grew up at a normal human pace and was expected to be prematurely aged later to replace picard as the captain of the flagship therefore putting a romulan spy in the heart of starfleet ... uh ... hmmm... exept 20-25 years previous picard wasnt a captain ... not even on the enterprise

Well, I can go along with the clone idea... if we had too. It probably isn't that difficult to get a DNA sample, although I doubt it was a hair sample
I imagine that after the Enterprise created such a ruckus in the Neutral Zone a couple of times, it would make sense to replace him. And I can see the Romulans scrapping the plans because of political pressure (Although, I think that they think longer term than that) and the Reman Mines were a great Idea. The problem I had was that Shinzon should have been pissed at the ROMULANS. Not at Earth or Starfleet. I can understand if his anger spilled over to Jean-Luc Picard, because Shinzon would not have suffered if he hadn't been created to replace him.
Shinzon should have eliminated the Romulan Senate, with the help of the Romulan Military, but then he should have tried to eradicate the Romulan people. Then he is chased from Romulan Space and winds up in...:::drum roll::: THE NEUTRAL ZONE!!
It plays out like a :::gasp, 8O , too topical for today's Star Trek::: terrorist who is trying to incite a war between the Romulans and the Federation from the Neutral Zone by attacking both sides. When you have the eventually teaming up of the Romulans and the Federation against Shinzon, Shinzon's forces break out the Scimitar and go to town. The ending fight works just as well here, though I can't go along with Picard beaming over.
But here is the point that I am waffling on. Should Picard die here? If he does, then Riker gets the Enterprise, and you get all that angst. (plus Stewart doesn't really want to come back anyway, and Frakes has made a comfortable living on the Riker Mantle). But I do think someone needed to bite the bullet, and it needed to be Data or Picard.

Personally I would have preferred it if it was Picard! 8O
Oh come on! How could you forget the tiny little lifeforms song?
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Orion/3775/lifeforms.wav
Your storyline would have been much more fitting of a Star trek film, HHornblower. The story line of Nemesis just didn't work out.
If only the writers of trek just decided to have a read of a trek encyclopedia for once, or simply got some sense! At this rate though, it will never be...and they took Enterprise down with them...

The lifeforms song... Gotta love the lifeforms song.
Quick Question though.
Data was a musician (Aforementioned lifeform song as well as the Violin), Picard was a musician, Riker was a musician, Crusher ran a theater troupe, Worf sang Opera. Even O'Brien is a celloist. The Idea is that Humanity had the leisure time to master such things as well as explore the galaxy.
Data paints, Picard reads classical literature, Riker practices...blind kendo (I have forgotten the name.) Crusher runs experiments unrelated to work. Worf teaches Klingon Martial Arts after work. Again, the Federation has time to play and enrich their own lives
So does that mean La Forge and Troi sucked because they weren't musically talented or had any other hobbies? Troi ate chocolate? La Forge like to poke around in Data (Alright, bad joke, I admit it) or likes to screw up his love life in public?
Just got me to wondering...

The same goes with Voyager...
Janeway had her holonovels, Chakotay had his medicine wheel and...halucinogenic device... Paris had the holodeck to play with, Harry tried to get a girlfriend, Neelix only cooked, the Doctor tried to be alive, Seven tried to live, and Torres...irritated others or broke their nose if they annoyed her!

Hmmm... And DS9
Sisko is a part-time god,
Dax is a scientist, Klingon, engineer, pilot, symbiont and murderer
Bashir is top-secret agent
Rom is a Grand Nagus
Kira is prays, sleeps around with Vedeks, and she's an artist
Jake is a top reporter for the News Service (part-time)
Odo is an eagle, a rock, a bottle, a bag, a dilithium crystal...
No idea about O'Brien though...
Beat THAT crew

Honestly, I laughed for a couple hours after reading this... Thats pretty funny. Everybody get my point? Was TNG just too perfect?
I mean, Dax and Kira had their holodeck adventures, as did O'Brien and Bashir as well as all three of the previous played spring ball. Sisko was an avid cook and played Baseball as a hobby. Jake was a master jom-dot player as was Nog. So Basically the only ones with no extracurriculars were Odo. Since Quark and Rom are greedy Ferengi ("What happened to pure, unadulterated GREED") they were always busy after work, picking up Dabo girls or spare latinum.
What does it say about people who don't have hobbies after their jobs in the future? Just lazy?
Because the EMH had more hobbies than Troi, La Forge, Torres and most of the membership of a country club combined. Just got me to thinking...Odo is a rock. lol
