Yesterday, UPN and Paramount anounced the fourth season will be the FINAL season of Star Trek: Enterprise
The finale will air on Friday, May 13, 2005.
Apparently "After four seasons, Star Trek: Enterprise has reached the end of its mission ... " Whatever...
The official article from http://www.startrek.com is here: http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/n ... /9469.html
I just hope this isn't the end of Trek...

Sure, it may never truly die, but what if there is no new series out there. To put it bluntly, it will suck.
I'm just pissed that Enterprise will never get the chance to show the Earth/Rom war, and the formation of the federaion. Which was what the sixth and seventh seasons most likely would have been, judging on whats happening in the new episodes.
Even though it may not have a chance, im joining http://www.saveenterprise.com and seeing if I cant help in any way. Which it seems like they either want ppl who are in the LA area to go and protest outside of UPN and CBS with oher http://www.saveenterprise.com members, or to write letters to different heads of UPN and CBS. If you want to help, go to their website, and click on the How I Can Help banner. They have premade letters there if you want to help.
Maybe, just maybe Enterprise could be brought back to life, or atleast be picked up by another network...

I saw all of about two seasons of it, until it was cancelled here in Britain. it's like having a part of me wrenched off all over again.
Well i've joined the save enterprise yahoo group, and i'll see what i can do there. I just hope that this doesn't mean the demise of trek, that's all...8O

CBS is in talks with UPN to buy both Enterprise asnd Wreseling so if they buy it, it won't be canceled.

As I said, i joined the yahoo mailing list to see if I could do anything to help. Well it seems more like they are petitioning me more than the companies, since I had 77 emails in my inbox when I logged on just now.
Basically though, from what I read in those emails, is that most people would rather Enterprise went to a different channel, rather than risk them agreeing to do one more season, and then axe it all over again.
There was mention as well of getting private companies to join in the petitioning. Apparently there is a company in Las Vegas that has spent millions on some trek-themed park or casino or something, and they have given Viacom or someone a load of money to be able to use the theme.
Companies like that would give anything to protect their investment (If they don't continue Enterpriise, or decide to not make another trek series, then trek may become 'antiquated' - this was the wording used in the email)
I agree that big companies could have a part to play in saving Enterprise - I mean someone has to make the T-shirts and stuff!
Big companies could provide a cash incentive for the networks to keep the ball rolling, although there is the risk of trek becoming over commercialised (Well, I say over-commercialised, but I mean that in the British sense of the word. No offense to Americans, but commercialism is virtually non-existant in Britain...well, compared to how it is in America)

Wasn't that supposed to be after the Original Series. And they scrapped it to make the movie instead.
I'm pretty sure that's how it happened.

Star Trek: Phase II was a planned television series set to air in Spring 1978 on a proposed Paramount Television Service (which eventually became United Paramount Network) based on the characters of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek. The planned series was to describe the adventures of the Enterprise crew on a second five-year mission after the completion of the first series.
The series was planned to have included William Shatner and DeForest Kelley reprising their roles as James T. Kirk and Leonard McCoy. Conspicuous by his absence was Leonard Nimoy, who declined to return due to a marketing issue over the Spock character and obligations to the play Equus.
The series would have included several new characters, such as Commander William Decker, Lieutenant Ilia, and the Vulcan Lieutenant Xon.
Despite the completion of most of the sets, several television grade models (Including the Enterprise herself and many of the pilot episode's models), and twelve full scripts, plans for a series were cancelled in favor of a movie - Star Trek: The Motion Picture - in which all of the characters made an appearance (however briefly). Decker and Ilia appearred as major characters throughout the movie. Lieutenant Xon (now called Commander Sonak) appeared only for a few minutes and had a few lines of dialogue before being killed in a transporter accident the actor who was to play Xon, David Gautreaux, made a cameo appearance in the same movie as Epsilon 9's Commander Branch.
At one early stage, Xon was given the name Savik. A variation of the name, Saavik, was later given to a female Vulcan in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Two scripts for the series ("The Child", "Devil's Due") were rewritten for use in Star Trek: The Next Generation due to a writers' strike. Additionally, some of the new elements in the series were eventually adapted into TNG. Riker may be seen as a version of Decker; and Troi of Ilia.
Twelve episodes of Star Trek: Phase II were scripted:
* "In Thy Image" by Harold Livingston: The two hour pilot that eventually became Star Trek: The Motion Picture. A huge starship crosses the universe looking for its creator on Earth.
* "Are Unheard Memories Sweet?" or "Home" by Worley Thorne: While searching for a missing starship, the Enterprise comes across a world in need of men.
* "Cassandra" by Theodore Sturgeon: The Enterprise mediates a dispute between two worlds over "The Monitor", while a clumsy ensign takes care of an infant alien.
* "The Child" by Jaron Summers and Jon Povil: A being of light impregnates Ilia to experience life as a Deltan. The Enterprise's hull begins to fail as they come across a strange nebula.
* "Deadlock" by David Ambrose: While searching for a missing starship, the Enterprise is recalled to a Starbase to engage in a very strange war game.
* "Devil's Due" by William Douglas Lansford: The Enterprise has a first contact with the planet Naterra just as a mythical creature, who was sold the planet in exchange for peace millennia earlier, appears.
* "Kitumba" by John Meredith Lucas: The Enterprise is sent to the Klingon homeworld to help Ksia, the underage Klingon leader, stop his regent from making war on the Federation.
* "Lord Bobby's Obsession": The Enterprise comes across a derelict Klingon Cruiser with one life form aboard - one Lord Bobby from Earth's 18th century.
* "Practice in Waking" by Richard Bach: The Enterprise comes across a sleeper ship where Decker, Scott and Sulu get trapped in a simulation of the 16th century witch burnings.
* "Savage Syndrome" by Margaret Armen and Alfred Harris: While investigating an ancient starship, the Enterprise is hit with a blinding light which brainwashes the crew reverting them to savages.
* "To Attain the All" by Norman Spinrad: The Enterprise gets caught in a solar system sized logic game where, if you win, you "attain the All," a huge repository of knowledge.
* "Tomorrow and the Stars" by Larry Alexander: During a Klingon attack, Kirk orders an emergency beamup and is transported to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii just before the Japanese attack.

i mean they changed ST history so many dam times i jus hated it more and more
Me too hate all of this "temporal distortions" "temporal cold wars" "alternative dimensions" etc. etc. But in general Enterprise is very good. There were only some episodes with changing history, not all of them.

In all of the other Star Trek series any information we get in regards to the time of enterprise is vauge at best. With so little information about that time, how has enterprise really changed trek history at all?? (besides the 'borg' episode, i'll be the first to admit that was dumb). While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I am sad to see it go, mainly because the series only seemed to get better as it progressed, espically now that it the new season, they are done with that temporal cold war garbage.
BTW marky, does each sentence really need a new paragraph?

There's something... on the wing, some.. THING .. on the wing, im glad enterprise has finaly started to answer questions, lucky for me im up to date with the searies and cant wait for "affliction" where the klingon disapearing head ridges are explained, or "through a mirror darkley" a 2 parter based solely in the mirror universe at the start of the terran empire, and you get to see a constipation class starship again too.
