SpaceX Unveils Plans for World’s Most Powerful Rocket Private spaceship maker SpaceX has announced plans to construct a new heavy-lift rocket that will be the most powerful rocket currently in operation and the most powerful commercial rocket ever built. The new unmanned rocket, Falcon Heavy, will be able to carry twice the payload of the space shuttle at around one-tenth of the cost ($1,000 per pound), setting a new record for the cost per pound to orbit.
