Two Croatian regiments of Royal Cravate were under the French flag in military operations undertaken by Napoleon I in Russia. Especially important was their insurance of Napoleon's retreat from Russia across Berezino in 1812/13. More than two thirds of the Croats lost their lives: 400 soldiers and 10 officers, plus 357 dead of famine and freezing. Only 296 survived. According to Marmont, Napoleon declared: "I never had more courageous and better soldiers''. According to [Dolbeau], p 18, Napoleon addressed the following message to these 296 Croatian survivors:

Star Wars anyone?

The story about Betelgeuse is going viral lately. Yes, it will go supernova, however not anytime soon but in the next hundred or million years or so. So, all the stories that it will explode in a couple of years are bogus. Period.

I realize the odds, but still, it would be cool.

I agree that it would be cool. However, since Betelgeuse is about 200pc away it would look more like a very bright point source. In other words, you wouldn't see a disk like in the case of the Moon or the Sun but just a very bright dot.

In order to achieve the Star Wars effect, you need a binary system but this creates other problems (the habitable zone is too far away etc). The following blog article has a nice analysis of the two-stars-in-the-sky scenario:
