So the release will be either X-mas 2012 or summer 2013? I can see lots of problems with both dates as there are tons of blockbuster movies coming out then, eg The Hobbit Part 1, Iron Man 3, World War Z...

Two comments:
2012, 2013. Wow, a long time to wait.
Hobbit 1? Jackson sure knows how to milk his movies for money. Did that thing twice where he released the original (on DVD) and then burned us with an extended edition later, then thinks were stupid and releases the original on Blue ray - and finally the Blue Ray extended just recently. Fool me once...

They fked up the first one. I had hoped that paramount would get someone else to do it. Whoever did TWOK or TMP or UDC or FC. They were good star trek films and i really wana see them style trek films back.

Also wouldnt mind a new tng film, better than the crap actors of the new reboot.

And i really hope it doesnt have romys in as the romulan themed films have been utter tripe.

Last wish is no more "bad guy" but a more bad entity or somit or well somit like TMP with vger. Somit epic somit big somit that is unknown and needs to be studied and discovered. Sick of all these crap bad guys.

Good point. It was cool in the original series how they would outwit a computer that had control of a population or an entity of some kind.

I think that Trek would fit nicely on November 30, 2012 between Bond 23 (!!! ) and the Hobbit, however that will definitely affect the box office as the Hobbit will obviously destroy all competition and I guess the studios know this. So, if Paramount plans with the $$$ in mind, they might try for May 31, 2013 which is a month after Iron Man 3 and a couple of weeks before Superman's reboot, so it would be quite a safe bet.

Of course, this means that we will have to wait ~2 years for the next Trek...
