The USS Enterprise-F, an Odyssey-class Exploration Cruiser, has finally been revealed in Star Trek Online. The winning ship design was chosen from thousands of submissions in a competition, and the model will now be showcased in an upcoming mission in the game. Later on, ships of the Odyssey class will become available for players to acquire.
Dan Stahl, the Executive Producer for Star Trek Online, has written a developer diary on how and why the ship design was chosen over the thousands of other submissions, as well as the process of turning it from artwork to a fully-fledged 3D model over on the STO website.

Skip To The Images! What does everyone think of it?I think it's a bit fat and the rear/shuttlebay of the ship is a bit...odd. But I can definitely see aspects of the Excelsior, Galaxy, Nova, and Sovereign classes in there. The twin necks is a cool feature, and the deflector dish looks like an upgrade of Voyagers, although that's a little odd since the design is so radically different compared to the Sovereign deflector dish. Overall though, yeah, Matress likes it.
