I removed the Ferengi from BOTF- anyone else do the same?

In most of my games, the ferengi always take over the other empires before I have a chance to fight them. I finally got sick of having all my games turn into me VS the stupid ferengi, so I edited their ships to make them very expensive. They now only build a few ships, mostly light raiders, and they no longer pose a threat to anyone 8)

has anyone else done the same? I'm playing my first game without them (im the feds), and Im sitting back watching the Cardassians and Klingons take each others systems while my fleet of 27 Command Cruisers and 18 Light cruiser II's waits on the sidelines.

I think removing them from the game, or at least their ability to crush any empire they declare war on, makes it better. thoughts?

I've wouldn't edit them out like that.

I just kill them first. Ferenginar is often one of the first conquered worlds added to the Romulan Star Empire. Muhhahahahahh!!!

Another thing is that the ferengi can buy minors easily....so when they join, I can take out the minors without feeling gulity. :)

Well that is one method of doing it...personally, I make the minors worship my Star Empire, but I wait ages before actually letting them join.

That way, they have an almost fully developed system, they may have their own fleets, and they might even start a war for me!

I don't have to needlessly waste my Centurions on costly strikes when I can get others to do it for me... :twisted:

I've never really bothered with the Ferengi to tell you the truth. I usually leave them there to mind their own business. (No pun intended) :lol:

By the end of the games that I play, they are usually the only race that is worth fighting anyway. They always try to run, making ideal target practice, or they test out my defences (Which is always a good thing when the Borg are around)

It doesn't matter though, i've modded the Borg to make them as tough as a pussy cat... :lol:

i normally play ferengi, i love their ships and the style of expansion can be very cool, like paying both sides to war each other untill your forces are in place :twisted:

you could always get the ferengi mod that turns them into the dominion (doesnt do models though)

Ya, i downloaded the Borg Incursion mod to replace them, and it's alot better that way. Although i played as the ferengi once in a while, they were too easy to play as with all the money or against with their lack of conquering (they never really did much in any of my games), and the borg are alot more fun to play as (with the assimilation and all).

The easiest thing to do is to let the ferengi start one or two tech-steps beyond, for example they start at T2 while you and the other three empires start at T4. If I think of it it seems to me that this even is the best option, because it would really canon show the balance of power in trek, rather tahn replacing them with the borg :)

The next option would be to tune their ships done. For example put up the ferengi's maintenance-cost and/or their torpedo-count. This can be accomplished be using one of the shiplist-editors downloadable at http://botfii.armadafleetcommand.com/in ... link&cid=1

The most extreme and most valuable way of taking them out is actually what jigally did: To edit many of the files in your stbof.res replacing ferengi-graphics with borg/dominion-graphics and to replace the ship-models as well. Since this is a very difficult procedure there is only one mod that has done this really professional: it's jigallypuffs borg incursion mod. (Of course as you can think this mod won't be made perfect since jig is heaviliy working on the botfII :))
