Really amazin Gavin. Perhaps some diversity in the start types and nebula stuff? Another question, i hope it's possible. Will massive nebula be able to be in the game? Just wondering...
I don't know if it would add to the game, or not.. But how does a background picture look like, like they did in botf?

Nice work.
Right now I can't think of any suggestions, besides Iwulff's star type one you already addressed.

Looking most excellent!
Like the logos for the fleets, really good idea! Also like the idea of open space as you said makes much more sense!
One question, when you click on enemy 'fleets' will you still get a break down of what ships are there etc.? and do you see planets seperate from stars?
actually thats 2 questions!

Lookin nice, even if it is the stripped down version.
Quick question, I see how you talked about doing away with the sectors entirely, because of how fuel is handeled in the new game, but will their be any kind of onscreen representation of the different sectors/areas?
Also, I really like the feature for writing in custom messages. Should make mp pretty interesting. Another question, will the AI be intellegent enough do deal with the custom messages?
Keep up the good work.

I can't believe this! The map looks incredible Gavin! Open space is definitely better than a hex map.
It looks like BOTF5 has come that little bit closer as well...
One question, (Although I think I know what the answer will be )
Will the enemy AI be able to respond to your messages? (Obviously only basic stuff, like give us money, or give us that sector) It would be a nice touch, but I imagine that would be hell to program.
Not that I want to cause even more work for you...

Well it works on keyword.. So money and sector will probally work.

Well now; this looks like we have a game
Excelent stuff Gavin. Now I can swear Klingons and Romulans in my own language and as long as mention keywords the AI will get me!

Looking very good, Mr Turfrey!
Just a question: how is diplomacy handled? Do you still send messages back and forth like in BotF or do you get a more negotiation feel like you are talking to an ambassador (you know, direct responses and such) as used in games as Civilisation and Master of Orion?

Hey, after all the work you've put into the game, I'd say you deserve at least one or two pints, if not fifteen.
I'm also looking forward to any other screenies you might want to throw our way.

Very nice!
One question Gavin, from some threads I read (A VERY long time ago) it was planned that you would still see the planets of the system if you click the star on the map (Like in BOTF)
Has this been done away with, because of the open space idea? I see that Earth is shown up as a sort of text box, so I was wondering.

Am I correct in assuming that since you're showing us all these pretty little screenies, you are pretty close for a beta release?

Ah just one Question came into my mind...
How do you know in which direction your ships or fleets are heading?
