i am reading all the news about startrek botf 2 for a long time now,but dont have any fresh news right now is the project still going or not.Im so exited about it that i cannot wait and it a good idea taht you set up something to pay the team that made the sequel like a paypal thing.I will be glad to give some cash to help you.One little point i eard that when you invade a system it will be like C&C i dont think its a good idea, because even if you have a bigger force of invasion someone who is good at C&C will win and that seems unfair .Hope to have news soon thanks all.

Post subject:  Re: botf2

Please dont mention anything about paying as this game is being developed by fans and we dont want to get sued.

I dont know where you heard about system invasion beng like C and C but its not true, all the game is turn based and invasion of a system works much like it did in BOTF1

There is no release date for the game yet. Please read the game request forumn to see how its shaping up. The things we all agree on thread is requiered reading. Cheers.

I think I know what you mean about the paying thing, chronus, but that was a one-time idea and it was to "make donations", not that you'd have to actually pay for the game!

The reason for it is exactly as horadrim says. We don't wanna be sued for profiting from other people's stuff. (I doubt you would either, so I think you understand.)

I haven't got a clue what C + C is like, never played it. Horadrim is also right on this count, the game is turn based.

You send your ships in, and you either take over the system or your fleet gets obliterated. Simple as that.

There won't be any taking over individual planets, only systems, and if you go into tactical combat in a system, any (Active) orbital batteries will take part in the combat. (One of the improvements over BOTF :D)

I don't know where you heard the ideas from either, but I hope we've straightened things out for you.

Anything else you don't understand/like, then post, post, post!

Welcome to the site by the way. :D

i suspect he was on about what gavin said in his interview, about being able to go down to a planets surface, this will be t oattack a specific structure not actually land an army. plus this is not yet decided on, it may be more work than it`s worth.

That's the beauty of it: did I want you to believe it or not?

Am I telling the truth or not?

Is this some dream of a giant super bug in an alternate dimension, and are we simply gonna dissappear as soon as it wakes up? 8O

You just don't know.

It doesn't matter, Still, I'll let you THINK it's important. So I will control you. And you don't even know it.

With experience being the mother of wisdom, I'll go with, "NOT"

Post subject:  Re: botf2

Yeah, chronus, the good news is the game WILL be released soon.

It's out in about 5/6 weeks.

The bad news, is that it will NOT be going through Beta testing. Jig got so fed up with requests to be game testers, that he decided the game will just go straight to general release.

This means the game will not be properly tested when it is released, but Gavin will still try to iron things out as best he can...

Post subject:  Re: botf2

Well fingers crossed.

Skeeter is posting up views of his own-made models, so we can choose to have them in the game if we want, and Fireball will post up views as he makes ships.

If you have any questions, just post them on the site. I'm sure the Devs or someone else who knows will help.

If you want to pass the time until the game is released, Scatter has been creating fanfics.

If you want to read, have a look:

Ye, there's some VERY big differences between BOTF and BOTF II. The Database does need a update though 8O
