Here goes my first thread ![]() I was wondering if any of you have played Star Trek - DS9: Dominion Wars on PC. I've recently ordered it off Amazon.co.uk and i'm waiting for it to be delivered. Can anyone give me any personal reviews on the game as well as websites where i can find the latest patch (1.04) and XP patch. They seem to have gone missing on google ![]() Thanks for your help |

To tell you the truth, I didn't realise that Dominion Wars was even out! I have the Warp 2 Starship creator program, and it says you can export your ships to Dominion wars when it was released. I hadn't heard anything about the game though, so i thought it was just pie in the sky... ![]() Anyway, why haven't you voted in the poll yourself? You made it! ![]() ![]() (Or are you the mysterious person who has voted...?!) 8O |

Fairly average game... can't really remember much about it now, so it can't have been all that brilliant... ![]() |

I fully agree. (Voted average). I played a demo some time ago and was overall disillusioned ![]() |

erm its a good game, the trick is to capture as many enemy ships as you can. that way you quickly get the bigger ships and quickly win the game. the story line is off from cannon, i think it has ducut as the leader of the cardassian freedom force. id give it 8/10 it kept me entertained for a few days, but the quick battle sequence is really just boring. |

Also it suffers from severe memory leaks, and is annoying to play at times... but fairly easy to beat(or at least when I last played it)... |

The Starship Creator was garbage |

The game was kinda fun. It was always a thrill taking over ships you weren't supposed to and having large quantities of command vessels. It got pretty boring after that and the Starship Creator ship importing thing was, indeed, garbage. You could only import models that were already in the game (sort of, you'll understand if you try), so it wasn't worth it. Not bad for the $7 I paid though ![]() |

Can anyone remeber sites to get the patches for the game, and thanks to xir_ for mentioning about Compatability mode but i'm sure there's a patch somewhere for XP. |

Well the games arrived!, but there's a slight problem. The game runs in Compatability Mode for Win 95 and Win 2000 but when i try Win 98 it says it can't find the file Kernel something. Also the mouse is really slow and the game sometimes freezes. Will the 1.04 patch fix this? Please Help ![]() |

I've tried it and it says there's files missing and it doesn't update on the game main menu after i've rebooted. |

I think I know what your problem is. When I installed 'Pharaoh' onto my new Windows XP computer, the game works fine, but if I install the expansion pack 'Queen of the Nile', I get the error message "Unable to load FT_Thunk (Ikernel32.DLL)" The updates/patches actually made this problem worse for me, so I didn't bother installing them in the end. ![]() I managed to copy the 'missing' file from my old computer [It was Windows 98] into the system32 folder on this computer, and the game works fine now. I could email you the file if you want, but BE WARNED - this is a very dangerous thing to do, as it could TOTALLY screw up your computer! I can't even guarantee you that this will work either! It's only by luck that it worked for me! Let me know if you want me to send it to you though. ![]() |

Before i try Mastress's idea - no offence but its a bit risky! i'm going to try the game in Virtual PC. At the moment i'm playing it on Win 2000 in compatability mode and all thats wrong is that the mouse is f***ing slow ![]() |

Pharaoh is a city-building game, a bit like BOTF really, except it is cities, not systems. ![]() It's a game set in ancient Egypt, so you get to build Pyramids and stuff. It is a really great game (Obviously not as good as BOTF, but almost...) Just do a google for it, there are loads of websites with the game on. I found a technical discussion forum on how to solve the problems for my game - that's where I was warned about my method of fixing my game. If you want to have a read of what the people actually warned me about, here's the link: http://community.vugames.com/WebX?14@44.dqQSeaOGyC2.4@.1dd9cf00/0 If you look for Matress_of_evil on the site, you won't find him. I used my real name on the site. (Lloyd James) ![]() I don't know if creating a restore point will help, it probably will, but it might not. I'll still send the file to you if you want, but the decision is up to you. <fingers crossed it works> *Edit - post number 1500 - I almost didn't even notice this time... 8O* |

I think it's a horrible game. haven't played it since it first came out, but it was pure crap. all you did was point and click. point and click. it had a ton of bugs as well. |

I've sent you the file, TrekBoyChris. Follow my instructions, and you should be fine. We are using Windows though... 8O ![]() I'm going on holiday tomorrow, so if it all goes wrong, please don't take my silence as hiding from you - I have to do that when I get back! ![]() Good luck. ![]() ... Shockwave, are you on about Pharaoh or Dominion wars? Pharoah wasn't too bad on glitches as far as I know. There was only one major bug in Queen of the Nile that I know of, (The self-destroying Monuments after assigning burial goods bug) and that's been fixed, so I don't see what the problem is. (Sorry if you meant Dominion wars) |
