Post subject:  Outpost and Starbase strength (BOTF and BOTF II)

Ok, one thing that has always bothered me about BOTF is outpost and starbase stength. Thats why I installed a mod. (Building mod 1.7.0)
Outposts are way to weak. I remember hating it so much, because 3 Klingon destroyers could walk in to my base and destroy my outposts.
I personally thing that isnt realistic or fun :P

Starbases especially....when you can bring like 9 command cruisers and blow it up without braking a sweat... I think starbasees and outposts should be stronger.

What do you guys thing? and what do you guys think for botf II?
I personally hope that Outpost and Starbase strength are high.

Well, I think people tend to overestimate the defensive capabilities of a lone starbase; the DS9 episode A Call to Arms seemed pretty unbelievable at times. However, I think they could be made reasonably stronger by adding more hit points (since they are rather large). Outposts aren't necessarily as fortified as a Starbase, so I wouldn't expect them to put up much of a fight, but I would expect them to fend off more than three destroyers (especially with the range an Outpost should have). I'd suggest more hit points for each, and a few additional weapons arrays for the Starbase.

If you take Bridge Commander for example: the Outposts weren't very weak but then again with 4 Galors you could destory one easilly (the Galors were pittiful btw). But the Starbase was at the other end of the scale, although they only had Phasers you still needed a large compliment of ships to be able to destory one. :D HTH

Yeah there two weak in botf, triple the hit points, double the shields then it should be decent enough.

Also starbases should be 4 times stronger in hit points and 4 times shields and be expensive and take long time to build to be worth getting them, they should last in a good fight and only a strong battle group can defeat a starbase id say. Will last longer if has ships support as well.

Triple the hit points, double the shields is the method that I usually use when I mod my Bases.

I usually octruple the number of Beam weapons as well, but I obviously weaken them somewhat. :wink:

Battles usually look like a Disco whenever a Base is involved... :lol:

Believe me Mastress, if i were a Federation Marine i would. Instead i'm a 23year old Ensign onboard the USS Victory operating as Tactical Officer :D
