I know what you guys are thinking, Trek has been vindicated, the Romulans are out there, ready to decloak and rain their Plasma down on Earth...well for now, that isn't the case. In this instance, Romulus and Remus are....Asteroids! Astronomers have discovered the first Triple Asteroid - its an Asteroid (Known as 87 Sylvia) that is orbited by 2 other, smaller Asteroids. (Now known as Romulus and Remus) The Asteroids are out in the Asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars. The Astronomers didn't think they would ever find a Triple-Asteroid, because orbital Ateroids are usually formed by a collision between two objects, and the resulting ejecta from the collision goes on to form the orbiting body, just like how our Moon was formed. Since the ejecta would gather over time, only one 'Moon' would form, which is why this Asteroid is so unusual, and the first one known. This is a link with info (And artist's impressions' movies) about the Asteroids, but of course, you can also do a google to find out more, just type in '87 Sylvia', or 'Romulus and Remus +Asteroids'. http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2005/08/10_sylvia.shtml |

Marchis proposed Romulus as the name of the largest moonlet because the name means "forceful" (rhome in Latin). The name Remus is related to the word "cautious" (remorari) and seemed more appropriate to the smallest moon and the closest to Sylvia. Strange that the Remans in Star Trek aren't named Romulans, as there more "forcefull" And the Romulans named "Remans" as there more Cautious. Ponder this i will. |

I knew romulan or/and remus are in our mythology (greek mythology i think). Didn't know about asteroids tho. Me thinks that the discoverer of them asteroids is a star trek fan and is a romulan at heart :p |

Yarg... Romulus and Remus founded Rome... thats fairly certain. Being raised by a wolf... well, that could have several meanings/reasons... but its fairly safe to assume they existed |

I wonder if that was intentional or not...? Centurion PM'd me back. Apparently it's a glitch with the site that hosts his avatar that causes it to change size. I've sent him some links with alternative avatars, so he'll likely be changing it soon. |

lol, I thought there was a maximum size for the avatars. But it appears you can have them as larger as you want them (or don't want them) to be Anyway, I have a replacement now. Will change it later when that damned site is up and running again. Sorry for the inconvenience. |

I noticed the size of the avatars as well. My avatar is currently about 2.5 times bigger than the max allowance, (It's currently 15.8Kb) but my old one was 18 times too big! (110Kb) 8O Don't try it with armadafleetcommand.com though, trust me, they are stricter with the limits. |

You know the Bandi planet, Deneb, pretty sure I saw sometinh called that in the starcharts, it's a name for the Alpha Cygni star. So is Wolf 359. JUst to add on what exists besides Romulus and Remus As for Qo'Nos... Maybe from Cronus, Zeus's daddy? I figure Klingions would relate since he took over from his own father and castrated him... Hmm... Wonder why I connected those two... |
