Yeah, Prague is a great city, I was there a few months ago. Very cheap is Poland and the new membercountries of the EU. I never thoght the Turkey to be a cheap country. Greece is cheap, I think and Italy isn't that expensive, too. But if you are from UK, any European country is cheap...[/list]

Salve,

Czech Republic - Ah, home of the beer and great food - when in Prague make sure to drop by the "U zlateho tygra" (golden tiger), a genuin Czech Pub. PalaÄ￾inky, biftek, knedlíky and svíÄ￾ková - Grat food - try them yourself!
Yet I always marvel the price differencials between Prague and the rest of the country.

@Mentat
Most US Americans might not know too terrible much about European geography (interrestinglly those that do, more than make up for the rest - the US of A is a country of extremes) but in general they are friendly to tourist unlike Some Austrians, especially if they are confronted with tourists that happend to be "Pifkes" like me.

I was wondering what kind of Mentat you were aspiring to, the likes of :
Thufir Hawat
Piter de Vries
Duncan Idaho
Gilbertus Albans
Fenring

Personally I love Fenring, he has a true Cardassian personality!

Maybe a map is in order... Look what I found on the Net

Can't see anything wrong with that map myself...

I think something i've been working on might go well here - you've seen <Most> of it already, CVN, but I think you'll like the additions.

If you don't know, I got the idea from a comedy sketch program over here called Dead Ringers. They were making fun about the new weather maps on TV over here. Ireland was my idea though.

Anyone got any ideas for what I could do to the rest of Britain? :? :D

Salve,

I absolutely agree with Smith, it is only natural to know primarily about issues one is confronted with. The US of A is a microcosm of its own - in principle the same is true about Europe, just ask someone in France (just an example) about the inner workings of Polish or Ukrainian society and there won't be much of a substantiated answer. With such problems about inner European issues now imagine if someone had to place Bhutan or Cambodia on a map ...

@Smith, I just consulted My map of Europe and figured out that I live closer to 7 other European capitals than to my own ...

Talking about geography, I alway get a kick out of the wonderful roadsigns in the US, for example this is what i saw somewhere in Arkansas.
England, straight ahead - Stuttgart, take a left turn and Czech, take a right turn.

So far my favourite European roadsign was the signpost welcoming somebody to a city:

"MOSSAT
please drive carefully"

You bet I drive carefully!!!!!!!!

I don't really want to talk about politics, but now I have to. I personally think your news organizations are against Bush, always saying that everything is his fault, etc. They most likely even blamed hurricane katrina on him. No, it wasn't his fault, if he had sent in relief over the mayor and the governors head, they would complain about him trying to take over everything. Are you saying Kerry would have been better? I personally have mixed opinions about Bush, but I get annoyed when everyone, even those outside my country, always go on about how bad they think he is and how we should get rid of him. Protester call him a murderer. He is my president, so I will respect him. I would have even respected Kerry if he was in, but I would be very unhappy about that. Kerry would have been a disaster. I know you can't really tell my mood from text, but I'm not really offended by anyone here. Okay, please no more politics. Politics = arguments and lots of spam. So please refrain from responding to my post, no matter how great the urge. If this does incite riots, feel free to delete this post and any following it.

Personally i don't read the paper's that make that kind of comment. The Hurricane wasn't his fault but he acted to slowly. Also he's made plenty of high profile errors in power. I'm not against Bush, i just don't like the way he acts and what he stands for

Thanks for your calm reply, whenever this topic comes up people always argue violently. As I said before, I live in the anti-bush capital of the world, the bay area, so I hear vicious attacks directed at my president all of the time.

Closer to the actual topic, I would love to visit Europe. It's hard to say where I would like to go first. I think Rome would be high on my list, I'm a big fan of the former Roman Empire. London is second, then probably Berlin or Paris, or both!!! I've always been on the far side of the planet from all these places. Must be hard to imagine for some of you.

Well, I haven't seen much of Europe, since I'm still pretty young. From what I have seen, I'd say Rome is the one to see before all. And Venice. I really can't imagine a person that would visit those two cities and not find anything (everything) about them fascinating :)

So, Smith, agreeing with you. Definitely Italy

Btw, re politics, imho, there are times when a PM or a president should be viewed as representing the entire country, but there are also times when he should be viewed as an individual. Like Mentat said, an attack on a nations representative is not, necessarily, on his nation or the people who elected him
