It's _S_isko, as he is not the routing specialist ;-)

by the way, I voted for my sweet Kathryn 8)

I voted for Kathy too.

I felt Kirk was too busy making out with every passing woman to be captaining a starship :P
Archer was too much of a pussy captain and didn't feel 'real' to me as a character.
Picard was good but he seemed a little too disconnected from his crew, keeping too much of a distance from most of them.
Sisko was okay, but he'd often go over the top a little and lose his cool and the 'part Prophet' aspect put me off him as a whole.

Janeway went through a lot in her time, and I admired how she always stood her ground against the bullies of the Delta quad. She also managed to keep her principles intact despite Chuckles constantly nagging her and managed to resist shooting him in the face.

i was gunn vote sisko, but then after reading abbs post i started to realise that he was pretty unstable. so janeway it is. there would be no way archer was gunna make it, he was a complete knob. and enterpirse, while entertaining didn't seem to be trek for me. it seemed to go against everything i knew to be trek.

no Alex Wilson on your list :x ;)

i voted sisko. janeway was a moron who's rampant stupidity got her crew stranded 70,000 light years away from home. any kudos she gets for actually getting them home is offset by that.

Post subject:  Re: Fav Captain of star trek????

You did not understand why they were stranded, then. Janeway made the decision because she held the prime principals of the federation straight to the top. If you disagree it's your point, but to blame her for being moralic is just a bit blockheaded.

Come on people, everyone knows it's Picard. Sisko was way too irritating and Janeway ran a democracy on her ship. Archer...well, that history never should have happened so forget him, and as for Kirk...he's the first and the best at the time but a bit too sexist.

Sisko for me his role in the Dominion war was important he was a good station commander as well as a good ship captin. He was never affaid of combat :)

Sisko, because he punch Q right in his daft face, something Picard shoudl have done a long time ago!

Plus, my fav ever episode is when he gets the Rom's into the Dominion war. Picard just did not have it in him to be that bad.

Well i think that crew respected Picard most of all. I mean ofcourse they tried to recreate this with janeway, that her crew was so loyal to its captain and stuff like that, but i really felt most of the time fake. Picard held distance to it's officers, is that a wrong thing to do? Picard always knew what to do... and he didn't punched Q in the face, which proves that he can keep it's cools. So Picard it is.

heh, she also told harry one of the first things taught at command training is the value of your crews welfare. couple that with the fact that she broke the prime directive countless times (i think the ex-astris scientia site counted it at twelve) on her trip home...

janeway sux0rs the as$ ;)

LOL, doesn't sound like she kept the crew's welfare in mind. You can't doubt her determination though

Picard had the luxury of doing so since he had the occasional Captain or Admiral to fraternise with. Janeway had nothing to rely on in the Delta Quadrant than her crew. That's why she had no choice than to get a bit more close the them than picard did.

All Picard spend his time doing was conducting peace treaties, scanning lifeforms and the occational run in with the Romulans and Borg

Im ok with Picard being on top at the moment but JANEWAY??? WTF! she is an alright captain but come on! anyone who stands by and lets her whole ship get stuck that far away from home cant be a brillient captain!

Yep  kirk did seem to get a lot of girls !!!! TOS was good and he was the first real all round good captain till picard! Ladies man, good thinker, ass kicker, funny hes got it all and i bet he wouldnt let his ship get stuck in delta quad!!!!! ( sorry i being evil to janeway now lol)

I voted for Janeway. She is simply cool and knows what she wants. Picard is a little bit to dry and to unemotional. Archer is a little bit stupid, 'cause he got beaten up very often. Kirk is too much a Superman..And Sisko? He is insane. I like him, too, but he's a little bit to agressiv and the whole
Emissary-Thing...

show me janeways equivalent episode to "measure of a man" or "darmock" and i`ll consider voting for her.

Post subject:  Re: Fav Captain of star trek????

I think Kirk being left out is a generational thing. The 'next' generation so to speak. Many new trek fans are not big fans of TOS as therefore not big fans of Jimmy T!

I liked him, but i think Sisko is the modern Kirk, ass kicker, risk taker, loves his ship and his crew and will do anything to get the mission done.

Plus he had a Nemsis in Dukat, something that no one since kirk/kahn havereally pulled off, the Borg just don't cut it, when you kick your nemisis butt every oher week it kinda defeats the point! You need a final show down...

by destroyung the caretaker arry to keep it from the kazon was in fact against the prime directive, which clearly states that starfleet should not become involved with another specices development. so right from the start she broke her so called morals.

The prime directive doesn't apply on the Kazon since they are a mature and spacefaring civilisation. The ocampa, however, are not. In order to let them develop on their own as the prime directive states it was nescessary to protect them from the Kazon who do not hold those standards.

Thus, she did certainly not broke her own morals!

That obviously depends on the interpretation of the directive. I'm quite sure I wont change your mind so maybe we keep it at this.

you missed the point - the prime directive applied as far as the ocompa were concerned as they weren't warp capable. by destroying the array she was interfering with their natural development.

even if that natural development meant being obliterated by the kazon...

Being obliterated by an allien race is not natural development.

Archer does seem like he's missing his cohones, doesn't he? Hmm just one vote - too bad. Anyway, my first choice is Picard, cause it was always him and Data and Spock that I have always associated with Star Trek... a truly unforgettable figure. Definitely the best captain... He would be head of my Star Trek Dream Team... Janeway is my second choice....if Picard were in her place i must wonder how he would handle Seven of Nine... i know how Kirk would :P

what you talking about...... kirk wouldnt do anything lmao sorry no i agree but with kirk on top, not what you think im talking about the poll (diging hole) narh but yep star trek makes me think of kirk spock data and picard .................................. also dax! l

like i need to say it but tibbles also!

I don't think a poll does the captains justice. Kirk is the best in my opinion, but Sisko is in close second, and Archer a little behind that. If everyone felt the same, kirk would get all the votes and Sisko and Archer would get none.

i voted kirk...boldly rushing headlong into places full of communist stereotypical soldiers (covered with some make-up, of course), could get out of any impossible situation
