I couldn't help but notice that some people have ranks like Admiral, or LT Commander next to their nicknames. How does that work, amount of posts? logged in time ( I read these posts every day, i don't bother logging in)?

The ammounts cant be told apartinly other wise people will spam alot to get to the ammount they need lol (iwuff)

I find it hard to believe people will spam threads just to get a higher 'rank'. I mean: it looks cool being a commander, but it doesn't realy make that much of a difference.

And Matress, I have the feeling Captain is the highest that ordinary posters can obtain. Admirals and Fleet admirals are reserved for the mods.

Admirals and fleet admirals are resevered for mods your right so highest ou can get is captain Centurion_VarDin is right.

People will spam if they only have a cople of posts before the go up a rank!

The highest sp far i've seen is Commander (SOM and MOE). I'll bet something happens at 2000 or 2500 posts though

Well, i thought this would have been over by now but for what its worth the rank thing is pretty tacky. i see the need for the adminstrators to be identified but ensign and recruit, sounds like we are all bucking for tickets for a convention or something. According to this site I'm a recruit, what exactly have i signed on too? Or any of us for that matter.

Its just to show whos got more experiance on the site rely not to say someone is better than another but if your a high rank you know the site better so if anyone has any questions they go to the people with higher ranks thats all i think it means! not popilarity contest or anything!

Thank you for that billy, believe me I doubt anyone is feeling inadequate about the rank thing, I'm certainly not, I have it it my real (or is it unreal ) life. Experienced posters though, I mean its great people are posting their thoughts but assigning ranks to the amounts of opinions posted just seems a little foolish to me. thats all. I read the forums alot (at least 2 x a day), but dont post that often.

but tbh spamming doesnt really do any harm, and if they want to spend as much of there time as possible posting. good for them, its good for the community, so it shouldnt bother anyone
