Firstly my apologises for posting something not about the game.. but As the time has come and searching the net for uni courses, what's more useful, computer game design or computer game programming? looking into getting a foot into the gaming industry ^_^ any help would be greatly useful |

Just found a uni that offers a BSc Hons in Computer Visualisation and Games, programming and modelling are included in this.. although not sure how in depth each go http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/ug-prospectu ... -games.cfm |

Computer game design is more focused on the overall game design where as computer game programming is focused on programming, which is better depends on what you want to be, a game designer or a game programmer. In a comercial game environment programmers have little say over the design of the game. They are told how things should be and have to follow the game design. Designers are responsible for all aspects of the game (graphics, audio, gameplay, etc) |

also dont go anywhere near london if you want to study and actually be out of student debt by the time you retire. (London is amazingly expensive to live in!) |

i've done some programmign and it can be interesting. Also you have a greater chance of getting a job at the end if you do programming. I mean there are more job openings for programmers than game designers. |

Well the above link, the course has programming and designing elements in it, ive never done any programming at all before, have done some modelling. Also i believe there is some work expereince.. ive done the architecture thing but im bored of that now, thanks for your replies. |

As a rule, you'll find out pretty quickly whether or not you actually enjoy programming. In order to do well, you need a lot of patience and a lot of passion. Game design involves more creative control, whereas game programming involves taking the design and running with it. Past programming experience isn't exactly a prerequisite, as the first thing they'll tell you in a game programming course is, "forget everything you know about traditional programming." |

If you ask me, I couldnt help you much. All I know, is that with programming knowledge, of like C#, you could make almost anything you wanted. Thats why i am learning C# as fast as possible. -edit- the only problem ive got, is that programming is extremely boring to me... |

C# is the greatest language ever. EVER. You really can write *anything* in that language. I could spend hours raving about delegates and events, or indexers, or operator overloading. BTW, you may want to check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/coding4fun/. |
