steam is a very unreliable program. to put it simply, it is a horrible program, and a step back for playing games.

Seems so unless you've used part of each and modded the whole thing

My desktop i built from scratch about 2 year ago
p4 2.4 gig
1 gig 2X512 ram
nvidia geforce 256 meg
60 gig hard drive
A-Bit motherboard
Audigi 5.1 with the creative 5.1 surround sound amped speaker system
19 inch tft monitor (flamin huge n heavy)
roughly 1 kilo of dust since i havent used it in about ooooooooo 9-10 months+ cup rings since i tend to use it as a table.
My laptop is foofoo, (Dell Inspiron 6000)
Centrino 1.7 gig
500 meg ram
256 meg intel "mouse in a wheel" graphic's
40 gig hard drive
Wireless
firewire and media card enabled
personalised case with a very distinctive arty look (scratched across lid with the words "yu ar a fik nob" signed A, Chav. its roughly half the power of my old machine but i love it and squeeze it and call it george, plus its handy wireless connection means i can obliterate the cadassians while having a sh .. a cr err a cup of tea.

i also built mine from scratch....
Just some advice:
i have a small job of fixing computers. 8/10 computers that have hardware problems are dells. seriously... dells, i highly suggest against them.
another story about dells:
Once, i had a case where a couple comptuer "experts" couldnt fix a computer. My friend was going to trash it. it was a dell, and i decided, hey its a P4, i'll at least scrap it, got it for free. Took me 7 hours to fix, had tons of problems, ill post them if someone wants to know. but now its running as my server . I got a free server + a Geforce 4, MSRP at over $200

funny fact for ya here, the term "Dell" was a slang word in the early 80's for someone that is a complete f**k up. I know how to make desktops but have no idea how to make a laptop, the one i have now is a cheap stand in till i get an Alienware. plus im waiting for a wee while since computer technology is changing in the near future with the advent of digital data storage.
