short answer: no
long answer: well thats complicated. can we replace someone who has his in-depth knowledge of the game? thats what im worried about.
edit: when i said no i meant: game over? no.

Although Jig is one of the greatest contributors for this game, the core (coding), still is with Gav. I'm sure that there will be enough modellers that are able to put stuff in the game. But Jig will greatly be missed for the game, i'm glad that he will still moderate this forum, though.

You've heard it from Iwulff.
Even without Jig, the game isn't dead. Gavin is still programming the game, so stop whining!
The game will be out, it might take a little longer, but the programming stuff is sorted.
It will be out, just think positive.

Yes the game will be released, and i think jig will return, put it down to the reasons he gave, but they are short term problems, he'l be back, and the project will be finished.

i understand the reasons behind his desision, but it`s too bad that he`s going that way because of some (actually, i don`t know how many people have been harassing him about the game coming out) idiots who can`t wait for a game to come out in peace. even so, i think that in his position, i may be doing the same, i`m not sure though...
anyway, i respect his desition, and understand it.
also, even if jig was the ¿best? modeller botf could have (i`ve been in the community for a short period, i`m not familiar with the actual number and skills of the other modellers) i think the game is still able to come out.

Zahadoom, my last post wasn't aimed specifically at you, it was just aimed at people in general.
And UnDated, I urge you to rethink what you've just said. "Just" a game? 8O We wouldn't be here if it was "just" a game!
Oh, and that ass will probably be holographic or something - I doubt you'd be doing it once the game is released!
...
It may be sad that Jig has left, but I do agree with his reasons. He can't exactly tell people about the game when he doesn't know himself!
Jig has always been the 'frontline' guy on the site. If people have questions, he's been the one that answers them.
Gavin is (Understandably) rarely on the site, so Jig has to rely on emails, MSN, and PM's. If Gavin doesn't go on any of them, how is he supposed to find out what is going on?
Newbies and posters alike have always aimed their questions at him because of the perception that he knows the answers to everything. I've asked him questions myself!
The truth of the matter is that he doesn't know everything about the game, but it isn't his fault.
Ever since the site was created, he's been bombarded by questions. There are also the occaisional prats on the site that sign up just to mock the game, or knock it coz they can't be bothered to check what has already been done.
If any one of us were in his position, we'd have probably quit a long time ago. Jig has been extremely patient with people, but a guy can only take so much.
I've sent him a pm asking him if instead of leaving he should simply take a break like Iwulff did, but he will probably - and understandably - simply restate that he is leaving permanently.
We can't force him to stay, but we can thanks him for the exceptional work he has done so far.
So I repeat: quit whining people! And see the good that has come from jig being here in the first place!

I've reached a point where I'm just gonna sit back and check the forums every month or so now. I honestly don't know enough about the whole deal anymore to know if it will be finished, I think that's largely down to Gav's situation etc. It's only a computer game after all, still would be nice to see it some day.

i think this thread is a little stupid no offence
But jig isnt the only dev there are plenty of others that put a lot of effort into the game it will just take a little longer the only reason the game might not be made if is people set up stupid threads and bitch about the demo and so on And piss the devs off.
It will be made they havent set up all this (website) so that when one person leaves they all pack it in.

guys relax the game will be completed, im in the process of switching my computer, after wich i will resume my efforts to create additional models. I am assuming that the first ship i created has been transfered to someone else? Also who will be in charge of putting the ships into the game? and who is now in charge of collecting all the models and keeping track of what is done and what isnt done??? I would like to become further involved in this program.
Id also like to offer my services to help keep an eye on these forums if it is needed. I dont always post but im on at least 4 times a day

firstly i will start a chat with gav and ask for a list of things that are still required. Then i will probally post it on this forum in a thread, so that you work on some of the parts.

good... I've been waiting for that... since I send mail to gavin at 12:00H... and around 19:00h I had send a mail to iwulff
Like I suggested at 12:00h.....
I (and probably another person.. or two..) supervice stuff that needed to be done...
Like the ships for (by example) the romulans... buildings.. music.. and other stuff...
When we know.. who is helping with the romulans... we divide them into teams... to complete their jobs... when they have finished something ... they report it.. and show it to me and the other supervicors..
and as ultimate supervicors there will be gavin, iwulff and every other fleet admiral/v.i.p. I've forgot to mention

whoops.. I forgot to say...
that the ultimate supervicors... finnaly dicide what will come in the game... and that they supervice me and the other *normal* supervicors...
*if my idea (which I worked out totally in 2 days) makes it*
