i had an idea, it might be crap, but it doesnt matter. what if we had a weekly thread in which we thought up questions we would like answered about the project, then voted on them, and each week the devs would answer it.
if the devs dont have time thats cool, thats why i suggested it to be only one per week, but im sure we all have questions that we would like answered.
and i ask this in the nicest way.

Sounds pretty good cos it would stop people constantly asking for the demo

i was thinking that we can all suggest questions, from like monday to friday, then we start voting on sat and sunday, and on sunday evening, the devs look at the vote and answer the question with the most votes, then monday we start again.

Heh...do you guys realise you've just said you'd vote to be able to vote?
It might be a good idea, but it could also lead to another Jig-leaving type situation.
He did leave because he was fed up with the harassment and dumb questions afterall. Of course, a voting system should get rid of the dumb question risk, but the harassment...well, what happens if the devs were late posting an answer coz of an undisclosed (But legitimate) reason?
I agree that Gavin could explain what is happening to the team and/or us more than he does, but I wouldn't want him to be doing that at the expense of the game.
And we wouldn't want another dev-leaving situation, would we? 8O

the way i see it is this: this would be controled 'bugging'. plus without sounding ungreatful, i dont think 1 question a week is much to ask. now if the devs are a little late and people start posting 'willy-nilly' bitching about unaswered questions then, the whole thing can stop and those doing the bitching can be warned/banned for being retards.

i can't guarentee at the moment that Gav will do any answering. I have a deadline with my work so i'm busy he is busy with his work, and so there are others. But i will answer any questions that i can answer.

Some type of info would be nice. In a few of the MMO games i play they did this doing beta and starting out. Worked well. But they also had an entire team designed as "public relations" department. I dont know any of the dev's here personaly but im sure its a handful and they have family, work, etc.
But would be a nice thing to do and get some info.
Ive been following this site for a long time, but dont post much. But i do have a few questions id write up if this went forward.
Asking questions only works well when they are answered. So devs would have to take a few minutes out of their busy days and go along with this for it to work properly.

Well, I'd definitely like to know some details about the UI system, and since he's been busy designing a slick Romulan interface, I'm sure Silvercliff would like to know, too. Does it use a proprietary UI toolkit (based on DirectX?), Windows.Forms, or something else? Will it be themeable, and if so, programmatic or based on pixmaps? Scaleable?

UI = User Interface
GUI = Graphical User Interface
A UI needn't be graphical.
From what I've seen of the screen caps, I think it's a safe bet the GUI of BotF2 will be extremely close to BotF1, with some improvements, naturally. Anything else would be pure speculation on my part.
It's a good question: short, simple, to the point and can be answered in a hand-full of sentances.
