I would surmise to say, this is a tester to see exactly how many "people" are interested in trek still, and their interest in a new series right now...
I'd like to see more of the story line though...

Paramount should sell the rights to another major publisher. If paramount doesn't want to make movies, then somebody else should. Also i think that there should be a new and bigger writing crew. Something that actually makes sense. Anyway i would love to see a series based on the Akira class.

Ooh...me too, Iwulff!
A new series on an Akira would be great. I'd be just as happy with a series on the Titan though - as long as they don't use that ugly design.

as far as paramount are concerned i'd say the franchise is done and dusted for at least the next ten years.
i'd put good money on the next series launch coinciding with the 50th anniversary of TOS, and not before...

I hope if there ever comes a new serie it would be about the year 2380, with a discovery class ....or what you sait matress with the titan class that would be ace......but then it must be the design based on the sovereign....And finally it must not be called >>>ENTERPRISE<<<

Or after ENT and be about the Romulan-Federation war.

Yea i agree its gong to while before a new series or moive and they was some talk about the nemise movie being the last of everything (after enterprise as well)
But i think that if this a fan bassed thing like that Star wrek or something i will not enjoy it carnt stand them fan based things
Need to have a series on section 51 i think that would be good going into what heppens but it would become very unlike star trek if so
SHould have a series on a Admiral class ship best class ever lol

I think a post-Dominion War series would be one of the best ever. Billions upon billions were dead, a few core federation planets were conquered and liberated, and the fleet, while in numerical terms only lost somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2, is spread very thin, since Federation space is massive.
A lot of aliens or factions that wouldn't of been mentioned before could be brought up; we know there's 'thousands', but maybe with the Federation weak, just like a parasite waiting for a humans immune system to falter, they finally try to assert themselves in different places. Throw in some suffering on planetary scale, along with exploration possibly spurred on by the need for resources or something, and you could have an epic as dark and gritty as you wanted, and that sort of thing sells like hot cakes these days: just look at BSG. In classic Star Trek style, plenty of room for social issues and exploration, too.
I'd bet a good $100 that these 'ten year' figures are off though. I'd say between 1 and 5 at the most before something gets the green light for production. If a movie takes 2 or 3 years to make, then at least the franchise wouldn't be dead, we'd know it was coming! There's too much instant gratification to wait for ten years JUST to build up some sort of momentum for a new showing, and memories are too short to need that long to wipe the slate clean.
I also think it'll be that short because I suspect there will be a huge showing of fan support, like Koenig (sp? -- Chekov) has suggested. "In the absence of the ruling class, the peasants have picked up the pitch forks and gone on to battle" or whatever. If BOTF2 got completed in a few months, maybe 6, say, with a simple clean site and maybe whatever else makes it easy for critical mass to occur like open source or something, the game could be a huge hit. Not just for the current 1431 forum members here, but maybe for 200,000 other people. THAT gets attention. Throw in fan-made movies (New Voyages for example), and it becomes clear Trek fans are here to stay, we want our 'official' canon fix of new shows. Somebody will see money signs, and next thing you know, we've got a new TV show. It does good, and by season 4 or 5, you get a sister show, followed by another, just as TNG spawned DS9 while it still had a couple seasons left, and just as DS9 spawned VOY as it had a couple seasons left, and as VOY spawned ENT.
Assuming, of course, nobody drops the ball again.
If I had money, I'd actually try to see if anyone was a taker on the bet though I'm really that confident

I think they would loose so much interest if they stared to do one about a diffrent species but something that would be good a captain that isnt human! Most captains i have seen are humans

could only do a moderate alien like vulcan in command - it would b expensive to do a klingon from make-up point of view. Worf was an exception, but he wasnt in most of the scenes in most of the episodes. And there werent many severely made up aliens - like a klingon crew.
Nope, there definately wont be a klingon crew. it would be too expensive. and expensive is bad.
