Ok, not a poll, exactly. I'm just curious what 3d programs y'all are using.
I exclusively use Wings3D for modeling and sometimes to map them as well. For mapping in general as well as conversions, I use Ultimate Unwrap. (Mostly, like the interface more than wings.) And for browsing, a long since defunct program called 3D-Explorer.

I've only used 3DS Max so far, for both modelling and texturing. It was difficult to work out the interface at first but now I know which parts of the program I need to use. I use the UVW Modifier (Faces) to unwrap UVs on to a single texture, then export the texture template via the Texporter plugin to paint on. I use Paint Shop Pro most of the time, but I sometimes use Photoshop too cause it has higher quality filters. I would use Photoshop all the time but I am much more familiar with Paint Shop Pro's interface. I paint a little bit, put texture on model, paint a little bit more, repeat until finished Is that how you guys do it? I'd love to know any shortcut tricks and tips.

If you want to make a poll, ZDarby, edit your original post and look at the bottom of the page. The poll options are there. If it doesn't work, let me know what options you want and i'll add one for you.

I too, like strings use 3dsmax. Love the program, i've got it figured out pretty well so it works great for me. For texturing I generally use paint shop pro, i'm used to the interface and am good with it. I also have photoshop but I only use it sometimes for touching up or saving the file with an alpha chanel or something.

3d studio max paint shop pro adobe cs2 ultimate unwrap 3d i hate maxs uv unwrapper, and ultimate unwrap has more plugins than you can shake a stick at.

Oh, I forgot to say in my last post that i've used Google sketchup in the past in a terrible attempt at Making My House. Does that count?

Nah! I really don't want to do an actual poll, as there are so many 3d programs and polling it would limit the possibilities.
Still, it seems most use Ultimate Unwrap and Photoshop. Max also seems to be popular...Interesting...
I assume no one uses Blender...I don't. But I've been wanting to learn.
Sketchup is odd. It's a strange UI... Of course, I love wings and that's a pretty weird UI...Why was the experiment a disaster, MOE?

When I did make 3D stuff, I used Truespace for modeling and C4D or 3DS for rendering.
Since I've learned CAD since then, I'd probably start in Solidworks and then render in 3DS, or start from scratch in 3ds. Truespace is great for beginners, but it lacks some of the more advanced options.
