Hmm, perhaps i should have held this one back lol,

The reason for the blocks Malv and MOE is that i was stupid enough to think that an update would suffice while forgetting that i added some new assets (ship selection marker being one of them) so the graphics are not showing up.

You have to select a ship as before by double clicking in order for the camera to work, i didn't have time to allow mouse drag selection to correctly select a ship to center the camera on i'am afraid.

Hmm Zeleni do you have an error that comes up or does it simply CTD?

I'll upload the new assets folder when i get a chance tonight.

Regards Wolfe

Wolfe, it would probably be best if you create a download for the ENTIRE thing - just like Supremacy does. People can simply delete their old folders and start from scratch then, avoiding the issue of clashing files.

...I actually originally thought that this was what you did, and deleted my Demo folder then put the update in a new Demo folder. As you can imagine I had a few crashes before I realised this was an update not a new release.

MOE after looking at the video, the reason the ships jiggle about is because the frame rate is so low and the time between each frame effects the amount of rotation the ship does, so when you have a frame which takes 20 times as long it rotates 20 times as much. around 40-60 fps is a good level to run the demo at successfully for now i'am afraid.

Also MOE i can't log on to sharepoint so i'll have to stick it on rapidshare for now.

Demo link: http://rapidshare.com/files/90980616/DemoIII.rar.html

Regards Wolfe

p.s MOE i have an account just can't remember the login details, i've tried ervything but can't get in

Send the files to me and i'll upload them for you.

grimmedbythereapernew@gmail.com

If you need a sharepoint account, ask Mike for one. He owns botf2.com so is the only one that can give out accounts.

Is it a Microsoft one? Those things are annoying as hell coz of that problem. Otherwise i'd say to try pressing 'Printscreen' and pasting it into Paint, Irfanview, etc then posting it for Wolfe to see.

No luck with copy/paste and print Matress but it says something like this:

at IrrlichtNETCP.Texture.get_name()

Bugger...

Now how exactly did it arise?, the ship will only fire if you click it or select it, then increase it's velocity and then tell it to move towards the borg sphere general direction using the 'Z' key mvoement line.

If you spin the ship the other way around and have it move away from the borg ship it won't fire as it isn't in range.

By the way thats not a good bug :), being trying to get rid of it for a while and on my end i thought i had.

I'll have to wait to see what Mstrobel thinks could be the cause as he is more knowledgable at these things.

I encountered a new bug - looks like space is only finite. :P

Image

The error occured when I set the Sphere to chase the Nebulas. I left them running for a few seconds (10 seconds tops)...and it crashed. I'm worried about the bit where it says operation completed successfully though. :?

Ooh cool! 8)

Would the Loknar really have been bigger than a Nebula though?

To play the game, you need to have the .Net Framework 3.5 and XNA 1.0 installed.

You can download Strings' Demo from Here.

Controls:

Space - Fire Pulse Phasers
Up Cursor - Turn Up
Left Cursor - Roll Left
Down Cursor - Turn Down
Right Cursor - Roll Right

The download is gone :(

Here are some recent video clips of various new commands for the combat demo.

MOE uploaded the files to Mediafire.

BOTFII Demo Aggressive Command.avi

BOTFII Demo Avoid Command I.avi

BOTFII Demo Circle Command I.avi

BOTFII Demo Follow Command I.avi

All Of Wolfe's Combat System Videos.zip

I'll think about uploading the updated demo to fiddle around with when i get the collision detection system working

Kind Regards Wolfe

It helps if you post the download links and not just the video names, Wolfe. :P

I edited your post with the links.

...

ALEKSSANDROSS, you can download the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 1 from Here, although like Malvoisin i'm surprised that you need it. Make sure that you've got the latest version of .Net installed first, then reboot your computer and try installing .xna again. If that doesn't work, we'll have to ask Mike or Strings to see what the problem might be.

If you haven't got Visual Studio 2005 in the first place (And you probably don't) then you could try installing it, but I wasn't able to find Visual Studio 2005 Express, so theres no promises that .xna will be compatible with the newer versions. The latest available version is 2008, which you can download from Here. You want the yellow download, not the blue, purple, or green ones.

the link is from an 3D model viewer but the models are so great ^^

to see it U need those that there are on the first page.

the xna 1.0 require visual C# 2005 express edition sp1 which require the program visual C# 2005 express edition (I found it on Saint Google hehehehe)

And the videos are magnificent!!!!!!!!!

Glad you like them, ALEKSSANDROS, we're just waiting for Wolfe to release the update that allows us to issue the orders as well.

Right here is the next update if you will, I've made some changes you will notice others you won't :).

Update Includes:

- Several Fixes from last version
- New Commands (Follow, Avoid, Circle and Aggressive)
- Simple Collision Detection system
- Health Bars
- Explosion and lens flare effect
- Some backend AI work
- Ship Death
- Better combat system, ships shield now recharge
- Added new ships, credit to modellers in indivdual folders and also Kenneth.
- New Effects and Sounds

Probably other stuff aswell. I hope it runs on most comps, it is a bit memory heavy, probably due to a leak or two ;).

Some ridiculously huge pics for you....

Ooh it's looking nice, Wolfe! Have you made any changes since the version you sent me a few days ago? It doesn't look like it since your demo still contains the extra non demo-related files!

I've deleted these files and have uploaded it to sharepoint for you. I've also updated the download links, and edited the first post with the latest information. It's a shame that we've lost Strings' combat system. :(

Have a look at the info and make sure it's all correct for forum users, Wolfe.

No the Start menu etc UI are currently seperate from the demo so to speak, as it is run in a WPF application while the demo is just an exe.

I need to get Irrlicht to run in a WPF application, which has been done before. But more importantly get Input from keyboard and mouse working which 'could' be more difficult.

Oh and LOL, you didn't have to remove the PDFs i thought they could enrich the lives of you young and aspiring computer scientists out there lol :P

Also the known issue of Holding Z down while moving should be fixed in the current demo, so if you want to edit it out feel free.

Regards Wolfe
