I was discussing this with Matress and Rigel on MSN. What would guys think of a history section in the database? We will have to sides.. One history side for Startrek canon a bit... and for like gamestories..

I want the histories from different sideviews, so during the Dominion War, something from the Dominion. Romulans, Klingons. Can prove tricky but we want to maintain this canon, so it wouldn't be that much. We first start of with the Federation history. Around the start of WW3 or just after. Will look into it myselfe later this day, just hope you wanna help me on this.

great idea. will look into it as well and post what I find.
I'm quite sure the history will be a bit different from the federation and, say, romulan point of view :)

well ehm.. no.. They are just solid history files of StarTrek. In updates of this database you might get stories from the botf2 game, that you guys made yourselve. With pictures and stuff.. But the history behind StarTrek needs to be written for several races, in the view of several races. Some kinda Klingon talk here, for the klingons. As if it was some kind of Klingon report that federation intelligence has gotten hold of..

The sort of thing he means, would be like this: -

Federation
Stardate 75559.1
A Dominion taskforce penetrated deep into our territory. Their spies have been busy, for they knew that our fleets were away on a training exercise. Luckily, a cloaked Romulan scout detected the taskforces' movements, and was able to raise the alarm. The remaining Klingon forces took heavy damage in the ensuing battle, but they finally managed to repel the invaders.

Klingons
The Day of Kahless, Stardate 75559.1
What a glorius day! Dominion P'tak invaded Federation territory as far as the border worlds, but through the might of our navy, we repelled the invaders! Let the survivors crawl back on their stomachs! Songs will be sung of this day!

Romulans
Stardate 75559.1
The Dominion attempted a stealthy attack on outlying Federation worlds...a commendable plan...but obvious. Through the foresight of her Centurions, our cloaked vessel, the RNS Telok, which has been following the force for some time, was able relay a warning at once of the fleets' movement. The Federation were lucky to have us on their side...as were the Klingons...

Dominion
Our troops have made a tactical withdrawl from Federation space. We scored much damage against the Klingon fleet, but they somehow knew of our plan. A cloaked vesel was believed to have been in the vicinity of our fleets...perhaps we should have offered the Romulans more of an incentive to join us. No matter, they will be over-confident when the battle lines are drawn!

Cardassians
Stardate 75559.1
We have recieved news from our allies the Dominion, that they have suffered a tactical withdrawl from Federation space. They assure us it was the plan all along, and that the Klingons have suffered heavy casualties, but my men grow weary of the continuous orders of retreat. I think a little Bajoran entertainment is in order...

...

This is the sort of thing that iwulff means, I believe. Of course it won't be quite so in-depth, and will be about 'actual' events, unlike this attack I have just created. (And the Stardate is made up as well, in case you were wondering)

Chances are, it will be more simply Sept 2313, First Contact, blah blah blah...
That sort of thing. My version sounds good though, doesn't it?

Anyway, I hope you guys still feel up to the challenge? :?: :D

I wont stop anybody if they feel like doing this, but like I told iwulff, I'm up for writing the canon history of the Federation, I just dont want to do it until I finish with my exams in the next 2 or so weeks. I could also do Klingons, if no one else wants to.

 I also started working on my copy... So I'll continue then if you don't mind.
This actualy fits into my school plan since I'm supposed to be practicing my english for the nex 3 weeks...

Can I also take a punch at the Dominion? I'll probably have to make up most of it since I don't remember much cannon data on them.

Just put your stuff in this thread, we can then discuss it and change stuff when needed.

WOW! this is impressive stuff!

Where do you all get the information you post? I'm not that indepth into the trek life like most everyone else.

Also how is it you are are able to play the Dominion, I do not know if they even show up in BOTF. Is it a mod?

Err...this is what is going to be in BOTF2!

Iwulff is planning on putting a history section into his Database, so that's where all this is going.

The Dominion will be one of the five major Empires in the game (Replacing the pathetic Ferengi, since people were rather unanimous in saying they shouldn't have been in BOTF)

If you wanted to have the Dominion in BOTF, there are mods out there (Obviously, in those mods the Dominion again takes the place of the Ferengi) - they aren't perfect, but they practically wipe out the existance of the Ferengi in the game. (Unless they are still in as a minor race, but I doubt it)

Have a look in the downloads section of the Armadafleetcommand.com page - they have several Dominion mods, but there are also updates to them as well, so make sure you install the right ones. (Make a backup of stbof.res before installing them, just in case)

First of all Winterhawk: No, the dominion is not in the BOG (Botf original game - I like this expression since it'S phonetic comparable to "bug" ;)),but has been some kind of modded in by some people pissed off by the ferengi.

All the sources we have to can create Star Trek's _canon_ history are the Series ans Movies, since these are all sources which are considered as "canon". AFAIR, not even the technical manuals are canon for some literally freddom-reasons.

Thus, all we say about this true history *is* from what we saw, and I believe most of us have seen more than there has been broadcastet 8)

That's only coz some of us are able to piece things together!

So and so happens, which means so and so technology is possible, which means so and so event must have happened...

It's just about reading between the lines. (And having a good memory)

When you think 1 + 1 = 2, some people just think 1 + 1 = same as 1/2 of 2 sqaured sort of thing. That's the kind of thinking that you need to piece some of the stuff together.

Ok, not everyone thinks about exactly how or why stuff works in trek, but some people do. That's what results in the seeing more than has been broadcast.

It also results in mind-boggling stuff like what we have come up with in the Romulan Warbirds thread - very freaky, if you don't understand science!

...

Anyway, in BOTF2, the Dominion will be in as one of the default starting races, instead of you having to mod them in. After much discussion, the Ferengi will be in the game, but only as a minor race. (So you can simply destroy them if yopu feel like that)

Sadly, this isn't the case with BOTF, so you'll just have to mod it like I said if you want them in.

Life? What is this "life" I keep hearing about?

Well, I know a lot because over here, I get a Trek episode per day, on the national TV :D. So I went through the series pretty fast (TNG, Voayger twice, DS9, 2 seasons of TOS and Season 1:ENT).

http://www.ditl.org is a very good site Winterhawk, also memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Main_Page ; a good wiki containing just about everything important

Hmph! The only trek round here is Enterprise - and that isn't even on at the moment!

I had to wait months after Voyager ended () before Enterprise came around, and now it's the same old impossibly-long wait until the next series story! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I may have the memory of a Goldfish, but an Elephant takes over the controls when it come to trek!

The GODS Gotta LOVE all of ya!! LOL

I did some research, way into the night after I posted, and found some interesting things. (I lost it) but NASA has a site (No kidding) that covers TREK from teh first show to the latest. A bunch of over achievers actually looking into the tech aspects and made designs for just about everything!

Some of the things they thought up (taking ideas from the show,)
actually work!!! I have a friend at Nasa (Test pilot) so I shot him an e-mail. HE could not confirm or deny anything (figures) BUT, he did tell me that there are projects in progress but they are classified, and thats the most I could get out of him.

I do know that the Klingon language (this is kinda cool) was accepted by the United Nations as an actualy language. There are two universities here in the U.S. that actually teach it!! Really weird huh?
