Basically you will get a view like that of MOO3

CLick the system and it zooms into solar system view.

That'd be actualy quite nice! :D One of the few things that was actualy good in MoO III was the galaxy screen.

To continue on the question xir_ posted; do we still have sectors at all or is that entire concept scrapped from the game? If so, to where do you fly? Can you only fly to systems and such? (again, as in MoO)

I'm pretty sure current specs require 700mb Hard Disk space, so I presume any download file will be roughly that.

Looking Good by the way! look forward to more!

looking good...however,
if the system view is making so much trouble wouldn't it be easier to make it work just like in BOTF? if you click a system you see on the bottom of the screen, or on the side, the planets? don't see why not since there's no special need for a seperate system view

also, joining centurion in the question, how's open space gonna work? don't have much great experience with games with open space. still think a grid would make it easier

I imagine it will work like "Rome: Total War" in this game there are regions on the map but your troops can move anywhere you tell them to (they have a range they can move) If this is gona be the case but with fuel, we would need to see the range that a ship could move in that turn when you click on the ship, some sort of visual range indicator would need to be present. :?:

Is it going to be like the Armada games then?

Since they technically didn't have any sectors, they had open space, and your ships just moved to wherever you clicked. (Real-time, not turn-based)

Of course, the entire map was only a single sector anyway, and fuel didn't exist in Armada....is it a similar sort of thing though?

Looking good! Shouldn't the deflector get some other texture/color or something.. It looks a bit empty... But i really love the ship, want to create a fleet of these guys when the game is finished. :D

It really does look good though. Fly, my starships, fly! Plasma that evil Federation ship into dust!

So that's one of the early Cardy ships? Looks good. Maybe you should call it the Balora class (just a suggestion)?

I guess I still have to get used to this models...
But, a general question: is this just your impression of the TOS-era, or is everything going to look like this?

(This isn't meant negatively if it may sound that way...)

are you talking to me?
If so yes, my impression of the TOS era is very very light hull patterns. As for the cony in jig's pic, its not mine :p

and if not, whats wrong with jig's?
I looks like a first generation hideki or galor of some sort. Kind of shows how the cardies ships evolved 8)

For a name, what about Haruki Class. Since it looks so much like the Hideki, and I am trying to get a name that sounds close.

Not to nitpick either, but that ship is friggin huge compared to the Constitition. Is it going to be that big? Normally, the ships you see fighting each other are roughly the same size.

Just talking out of my head :) , but if all these "empires" are starting at the same time, you would think ship size would as well, in general.

Otherwise: I am salivating with the thought of getting the game. Looks great!!

Looking good guys! Keep up the good work. :) I was wondering if theres any more in game shots that could get put up? Dont get me wrong, the ship mod pics are great (in fact, post more of them too), but I'm still curious about the look of the games galaxy screen.

For what race are these white ships, Jig?

I would prefer some other name for the cardie ship: Jatari, Keltetti

The white ships look a bit like Concorde! (Shame about them by the way, flagships of British Airways and the Frenchies)

One question: why are the textures for Earth backwards? South America is facing the wrong way, and you can't even recognise the USA! (Surprised you didn't notice this Rigel)

Anyway, apart from this, I agree with Rigel. More screenies of everything! :D(Please)

Nice ships but will they stay low poly like that or will they get more detailed textures later? Also whats the texture size limits of the engine thats being used?

Shame about there wont be sectors and a galaxy map as in botf i really liked that and hoped that wouldnt change in this fan based game. As i found it rather useful and nice and simple and easy to use and follow "lol lots of little words there".

Loved the animated system animations on the bottom of the galaxy map as well when u clicked on the sectors. Shame they wont be on in this botf 2. Any chance of a rethink? If im mistaken let me know as i have only seen this topic so far as ive just joined lol.

Also im working on this fed and klingon ships if ur interested?
