 Like it says a commander goes renegade and just attacks at random those with whom you may have set non aggressive or peace treaty with. Of course as a player you would have no control over them and it would be up to you to either capture them or wipe them out before they start a war your not ready for. That is Unless The Oppisite tready holder kills them first.! And to make it really interesting, if you do not capture them they could take your home planet and control everything!

Talk about a mind blower!

It could be an interesting random event, but I dont think the last part should be included. Hows the one random commander going to take over the coreworld of a galactic empire? Maybe he holds it for a day, and then I'll bring my fleets back home and get my planet back, one way or another.

Like I said, I like the idea, it could be an interesting addition to the random list, but it does seem pretty technical (with it only attacking your current allies), and Im not sure it cuold be too easily programmed. Too bad I know nothing about programming, so I couldnt tell ya.

I should have clairified a bit more. Not only do they attack those whom you are in treaty with but your own forces and planets as well.

*Example* I have a whole set of fighters including transports that have taken over my home world. The romulan insignia would have a black band running across it. This would indicate they went rebel. With the overthorw of my government, they could persuade other planets to follow them or go renegade themselves. They could also screw me by taking out star bases and outposts to keep me from reaching the home world. In effect traping me in a small area unless I happened to have transports with me.

See what I mean? Also this is why I thought of it as an upgrade for the future. The Tech part may not be resonable at this time but in the future who knows.

I think a whole fleet surprisingly going mad should be just added in the impossible mode, since this could really piss off unskilled or new players, because this is an even bigger threat than two of your major opponents deciding to kill you :)[/img]

I'm actually really confused at the moment. I could have sworn that a <similar, but different> thing was already in the random events, but this is what it actually says:

79 Renegade - One of our starships on patrol near a system of recent dissention/independence from the Federation has gone missing. It is improbable they were destroyed without signaling for help. The investigation conclusion is that the vessel has joined the Federation dissident movement.

What I thought it had said, was that a ship would dissappear and start attacking your own worlds/ships/'traditional' enemies (Like the Cardassians for the Federation, or Klingons for the Romulans)

That's what I thought the random event said, but obviously I misread/misremembered it. :(

...

Perhaps your ideas could be added in as Rigel said, or perhaps there could be a modification of number 79. Either way, it's worth a discussion.
